My party of three can be… particular. We’re polite and respectful, but we definitely customize our food. Sierra, our waitress, was absolutely amazing. She was sweet, knowledgeable, attentive, and efficient. Not only did she make sure our meals were exactly how we ordered them, she kept our drinks full and checked in just the right amount to make sure we were happy and taken care of without being overbearing. I also appreciate that she did not remotely rush us. That can be a struggle at restaurants where they want to turn over the table, and I felt like her priority was to ensure we enjoyed our dining experience.
She was partnered with Melissa, and the two of them worked seamlessly together. As a team, they were truly on top of everything. I was extremely impressed, and the next time I visit Ruth’s Chris, I will absolutely be looking for — and requesting — Sierra and Melissa.
Highly recommend them both for an exceptional dining experience!
My friends and I had an 8:15pm reservation and all arrived by 8pm. We didn’t get seated until after 9pm. No updates unless we went to the front counter and asked, no apology — just standing around in our nice outfits taking lobby pictures because what else do you do after ordering 2 rounds of drinks at the bar?!
They sat our group of ten at a table meant for eight, so we were basically elbowing each other all night. Service felt scattered with multiple servers, no real guidance or options, and long waits for everything.
Our appetizers came out room temp and arrived with the entrées instead of before. The sides (mashed potatoes, creamed spinach) were also lukewarm. We ate it anyway because at that point the night was already dragging.
Desserts — which were supposed to come with our entrées — took 40+ minutes after we paid. Those were all ordered with our entrees, all the same dessert as well. Still no apology for anything: the seating delay, the cold food, the wait times… nothing. After dessert arrived, I overheard the waiter say you could have ordered a different dessert for $5 extra dollars?! Where was that option at order time bc I would have gladly paid for something else.
I haven’t been to Ruth’s Chris (downtown) in about a decade, and after this experience, I won’t be going back. Our whole group left disappointed, tired, and heading straight home instead of grabbing the one drink we’d planned after dinner.
Nights like this are exactly why I choose local small businesses over chains. This was not it. Our entire party of 10 left extremely disappointed. None of us live near the restaurant either – this was a middle ground for everyone. So after a disappointing Saturday night out, we all drove 30 mins home in the rain instead of enjoying a drink with eachother nearby after dinner.
The atmosphere was equally impressive, with a beautiful view of the St. Johns River that made the evening even more special. The thoughtful touch of the personalized signed card and the writing on our dessert plate was deeply appreciated and added to the celebration.
Ruth’s Chris exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to returning to create more memorable moments in the future .
I don’t recommend the au gratin potato, it was very bland and watery. And the grilled asparagus was too soggy and bitter for my liking.
Diego, our server, went above and beyond super attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening. I had the 26oz Cowboy Ribeye, which was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. My wife ordered the lamb chops, and they were incredibly tender and delicious.
Everything from the service to the food to the ambiance made our anniversary feel extra special. Highly recommend Ruth’s Chris for any celebration or just a top-tier dining experience. We’ll definitely be back
I got the 6oz felt and my fiancé got the herb chicken. The steak was a perfect medium and the chicken was so flavorful / never had anything like it!
I forgot our severs name but he was very knowledgeable, professional and made our dinner special.
The parking garage was the worst part but that’s part of being in Savannah.
When the check arrived, it was $159. I then learned the $12 was only to upgrade a 6oz steak to 8oz completely different from what I was told. My server, Kenneth, was phenomenal and handled the situation with professionalism and accountability. I paid the bill in full, still tipped 20%, and left. A solo meal I expected to be around $76 ended up costing nearly $200.
Concerned about the misinformation, I later called and spoke with the manager, Joseph, not to request a refund, but to ensure staff are properly educated so this doesn’t happen to another guest. I even took responsibility for believing something that sounded too good to be true. Unfortunately, the response I received was dismissive and condescending, with no apology, empathy, or acknowledgment of the frustration caused by incorrect information given by staff.
The lack of accountability and basic customer care from management was extremely disappointing, especially considering the amount spent and my history dining with this brand. I left feeling disrespected rather than valued. This experience raises serious concerns about menu transparency, staff training, and how guest complaints are handled at this location.
I have always enjoyed Ruth’s Chris, but after how this situation was handled, I’m genuinely reconsidering whether I’ll return.
