Founded by Ziegfield dancer Helen Gallagher and the colorful sports enthusiast Jack Solomon, Gallaghers opened as a speakeasy and steakhouse in 1927. New Yorkers come for the world-class cocktails and incredible steak – prime beef dry-aged for 21 days in Gallaghers’ legendary windowed meat locker. The combination of all-natural dry aging and cooking it to perfection over hickory coals makes for a steak unlike any other found in New York. Gallaghers’ guests are welcome in a wide variety of attire. We respectfully request that you refrain from wearing hats, shorts and sports jerseys. Reviews
Appreciated the welcoming hospitality from staff members and old school yet dapper atmosphere.
Very importantly the food did not disappoint. We ordered porter house for two and two lunch specials ( 3 course deal is probably the best lunch deal in the city).
Manhattan chowder was very good and
Lamb chops with house made mint sauce was also nice. and filet mignon was very tender and cooked well. Highlight of the meal was the flavorful dry aged porter house. Waiter told us it was 28days old , but wasn’t too buttery and was cooked to perfection! Very delicious and flavorful.
I saw the banana split on the dessert menu and had to order them. And It was an excellent decision.
Wonderful classic spot to visit can wait to return. I highly recommend Gallagher’s to everyone.
The steaks were seriously impressive. Both the tomahawk and the strip loin came out perfectly charred on the outside, tender and juicy inside, exactly what you hope for at a classic steakhouse. Easily one of the top 10 steaks I’ve ever had. That deep, smoky crust with the rich beefy flavor… so good.
The bacon was decent, personally I’d love it a bit thicker but it still hit the spot. The sides were solid and generous, nothing flashy, just dependable and well done.
Service was surprisingly warm and attentive, honestly better than some other old-school spots around town. The whole experience just felt right. My only regret is not discovering this place sooner. Definitely coming back.
To top it all off, the birthday desserts were such a special touch and made the celebration even more memorable. The entire experience felt celebratory and elevated. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate — highly recommend for a special occasion!
They didn’t do a great for food allergies which in fairness most restaurants including Gallaghers advertises no substitutions or changes. This is understandable since this is a very low price for their quality of food and service. Where they could have done better is the server set the expectation that my allergies would be avoided. I stated them in the reservation and confirmed them with our order. They served the wedge salad with blue cheese dressing and the Salmon with the couscous. They provided a new salad with olive oil and red wine vinegar. I didn’t eat the couscous and fortunately my allergy is not lethal.
They went above and beyond and humored us with a dessert for an early Birthday celebration for my wife. I would highly recommend and we will definitely come back for more!
Our servers, Robert and Sal, were incredible. The entirety of our stay was filled with delicious food, tasty drinks and personable interactions with each staff member. The atmosphere was classic and invigorating. The flavors and delicacy of each dish were spot on.
The Salmon Tartare and Spicy Tuna Poke were fresh and served to perfection. Each steak was cooked to order and paired with dishes such as creamed spinach and onion rings. I have yet to find a better onion ring; crispy, succulent and tender without the oily appearance and aftertaste.
The Burrata Caprese and Clams Casino were out of this world. There aren’t words to describe the enjoyment we experienced while trying the Swordfish; its flavorful embodiment paired delectably with a glass of wine.
The restaurant has that old-school Rat Pack charm, and our server welcomed us quickly with great service. We started with shrimp scampi (a hit with the table) and a perfectly balanced wedge salad.
The star of the night was the tomahawk steak — cooked beautifully, seasoned just right, and perfect for sharing. We finished with the warm toffee pudding topped with vanilla ice cream, the ideal way to end a steakhouse meal.
Great food, classic atmosphere, and a memorable night all around. Gallagher’s is a solid choice for anyone craving a timeless Vegas steakhouse experience.
The atmosphere is old-school, timeless, and full of character. Walking in feels like stepping into NYC history, with that unmistakable steakhouse energy that immediately sets the mood for a great meal. The dry-aged steaks are outstanding—perfectly cooked, rich, and incredibly flavorful. You can truly taste the quality and craftsmanship in every bite.
Service is professional, attentive, and polished without being overbearing, exactly what you want in a top-tier steakhouse. From start to finish, everything feels smooth, confident, and refined.
If you’re looking for a true New York steakhouse experience—classic, satisfying, and consistently excellent—Gallagher’s is absolutely worth it.
