I didn’t catch our servers names butbtheybwere so sweet! I had called a few days in advance to ask if they took reservations for a group of 8 and I said it’s for my bday and they said happy bday. They accommodated that our party ended up being only 5 people. They were knowledgeable and helpful when suggesting dishes.
We ordered the Appetizer Sampler and Chicken Poppers for appetizers.
Chicken Sisig, Veggie Kare-Kare, Lechon Kawali, and Pancit Canton. We chose garlic fried rice for all (so good).
We loved all the dishes and the flavors were pronounced and the food wasn’t overly salty.
The Lechon was quite fatty and I think the pork lumpia were a bit spicy but overall very good!
They even surprised me w/ a birthday song on the speaker and their ube cake w/ a candle. The entire restaurant sang to me and it was so sweet. I felt really special w/ a full tummy! Definitely will be back here to try their other dishes – especially the Halo-Halo dessert!
I loved Patok so much that when it came time to plan a milestone birthday party for myself, they were on my short list for birthday dinner party venues. After reaching out to several restaurants I liked, Patok by Rach by far gave the quickest and friendliest responses; their prices were also nearly like robbery. They were super flexible when it came to timing of the event, dietary restrictions of my guests; item swap-outs for the kamayan feast I requested. I am a pretty detail oriented person (and thus, I have self-awareness that I can be annoying with all my minute questions :D), but Joyce, their catering manager, was so patient and kind, answering ALL of my questions and then some with grace, kindness, and warmth. I ended up choosing to have a private event where it was just my party at the restaurant that evening, so it was really intimate and lovely. They even thought about little details like allowing us to come early to decorate, and even suggesting karaoke to end the evening! They were also accommodating when I asked if they could help take photos and videos for me at key moments of the evening (and they’re very good at photo and video taking!!). They made everything so smooth and seamless that it was like working with family as opposed to professionals I’d actually never met in person before! Once our meal was done, they proactively gave takeout boxes to all my guests so that they could take their leftover food home, which I loved — I hate food waste, and I appreciated this gesture so much without asking!!
My guests, who at this point hadn’t had much Filipino food, raved endlessly about the food. They loved how gorgeous, festive, and delicious the kamayan setup was. While all the food was complimented, I think that the favorites of the evening were definitely the lechon (how could anyone NOT love it? The skin was so crispy and perfect!), the chicken inasal, and the fish sisig (which I specifically asked as a swap-in to vary up the proteins for the meat eaters in my crowd). The shrimp chips laid out on the banana leaves were so light, airy, and crispy that they must have been just freshly fried – what a treat! I had friends who had calamansi juice for the first time and fell in love. I also had a number of guests who said the service was top notch and attentive; they asked me how I even found this place to begin with! Some hesitated about the location (I had a lot of friends commuting from Brooklyn), but when they experienced the food and service, they said they understood a thousand percent why I chose this place for my birthday party.
We also ordered their ube cake as my main birthday cake, and the leche flan as a second dessert to round out the evening (you can never have too many desserts at a birthday!). My friends loved how creamy and rich the ube cake was, and the lechon flan was also delicious.
I am so thankful I found Patok by Rach and got to experience the fun and joy of working with their restaurant manager Joyce, who is truly a gem and makes event planning seem too easy! My heart was swelling by the end of the evening. I am very much looking forward to singing their praises to everyone I know and coming back here later this year when I’m up in Inwood. Everyone needs to experience the warmth, hospitality, and deliciousness that is Patok by Rach.
Tried Patok by Rach in Inwood and honestly, it hits the spot if you’re craving Filipino food. The lechon kawali was super crispy and juicy, just how it should be. Loved the pork lumpia too — perfectly crunchy and flavorful.
Place has a chill vibe, very homey. Staff was nice!!! Overall, really good spot for comfort food that feels close to home. Will definitely be back.
