Came here with my friend for lunch. The lunch special is an amazing value and the portions were huge! The owner was very attentive and taught me something new about how to enjoy the food with the sides. Great music and quaint for lunch. It’s rare to get such a great value from a lunch special! We even needed a box. I will definitely be coming back for dinner as well.

I’ve been to many Indian restaurants and I’ve even been to India so I know what good Indian food should taste like. Unfortunately, the food here was not good, and the service wasn’t any better. The flavors were off and didn’t feel authentic. Very disappointing overall.

First time been here, we really like the food, very delicious, rich of flavor, we tried chef’s tasting menu, which covers many favorite dishes. Talked to the owner who has been there for 30 years, he mentioned two chefs who have been worked there 26 and 28 years. Not easy to run a good business for such a long time.

Probably the most bland flavorless Indian food I have ever tasted. The staff was nice but slow to provide assistance. Decor is nice. Prices on a very high end, completely unjustified based on the food quality.

Had a table for 5, family reunion. We each ordered different dishes, and all were tasty. There are vegan & vegetarian choices as well as chicken & seafood. Beer & wine were available with generous pour, and reasonable prices. Service was helpful and attentive. Easy parking if you are lucky like we were. Decor was interesting and appealing.

The maitre d’ was quite helpful in understanding the various dishes. We were there on a Friday night but still got plenty of attention from the maitre d’ and the rest of the wait staff. The restaurant was not too noisy, so conversations were easy to understand.
We started with the papadam which came with a mint-cilantro sauce. We also split an appetizer of tandoori scallops. The papadam was very fresh and crispy but a little too salty. The scallops were under cooked (as usual, but we had asked that they be cooked more towards “medium”). The sauce accompanying the scallops was very bland, having almost no taste at all.
We got a glass of the Edelzwicker wine, which is a not-too-sweet blend of riesling, gewurz and pinot gris. That is a good complement to the spicy entrees.
Our main entrees were Chicken Tikka Masala & the Chicken Biriyani. We had asked for a mild version of the biriyani but it was still pretty peppery. The raita helped lower the spice heat though. The chicken tikka masala was milder but the chicken itself was a little bit dry. The plain naan was very fresh and was a good way to get the last bits of the masala sauce.

I was in the neighborhood so I stopped by for lunch. I had Salad and Tandoori Salmon. The salad was organic, it was light and delicious and not laden with too much ranch or fat. The tandoor salmon was really moist, delicious and served sizzling. Tandoori salmon came with basmati rice and aloo palak saag. That saag was light yet flavorful. Overall a very nice meal. I think it is a must try if you are in the area.

Indian places are hard for me rats highly, I find them over priced and often not very good. Ajanta was on the upper end of process t even for Indian food, and really only two out of four dishes we had were excellent. The other two were borderline good. The naan was fine, but the chapati was not the best, and neither was the alloo paratha – the aloo paratha was actually bad. There are much better Indian restaurants to go in the Bay area and the Berkely area.

Mainly good food, however the lamb chops were not very flavorful. Other than that, everything was really good. The ambience was ok but the staff was pretty friendly.

I was the youngest patron in this establishment (41F, single). The portion sizes are great! The food isn’t authentic , but it’s pretty good. Lamb Biryani was good but a bit dry. Sabzi Rangarang was good. It’s a bit pricey. Not super crowded spot, might return.
