Sit at the bar, let the chefs offer the best from the day, they will impress you.

I would say this is probably the best sushi restaurant in Salt Lake, quality of the fish is there.

The chefs make your experience really personall.

I’ve been twice now I’ve had the sobu as well as the Miso, the pork rib sobu was crazy good. Broth was clean clear, but soo dense with flavour. The noodles were as good as I’ve had in Japan.

Easily one of the best sushi spots in Utah—if not the best. Every roll we tried was excellent, but our favorites were the Surf and Snow and The Summit (riceless). The veggie tempura was perfectly done, and the edamame dumplings were a standout—unique, creamy, and savory in a way we hadn’t had before. Service was fast and consistently friendly. We arrived around 5:20 pm on a Wednesday, waited about 10 minutes to be seated, and were in and out within two hours. The only thing I would change would be for the restaurant to be quieter with dimmer mood lighting, as the quality of the food just deserves a more elegant ambiance in my opinion.

Mike and Bictor are both such kind sushi chef. The place has plenty of REAL CRAB sushi rolls. They also fly in daily fresh fish from Tokyo, live scallops. I love cucumber salads and this one knocked my socks off and it was unique by having mirin vinegar so a dash of sweetness. The Wagyu is A5 and cooked to you’re desire.
My favorite part was they’re were humble and gracious, even if you’re young and dressed chill. The place is not too pretentious but you definitely get top tier service.
The waitress Ashley was attentive and kept the drinks coming but also the lunch female manager (short hair) definitely had exceptional attention to detail. Came to salt late city for 4 days and had to come twice!!!

Read the reviews and was eager to try. Outstanding! Sushi was fresh. Many unique rolls, many i have not seen elsewhere. They are busy but in my opinion worth the wait. Service was top notch, friendly and knowledgeable.

Being a bit of a sushi connoisseur I always enjoy trying new spots. This place was recommended to me by a sibling. We came later on a Friday night so we had a 45 minute wait for 2 people. Waiting space is limited so in winter bring a jacket just in case. The food was delicious and we did a variety of rolls though they also had some plates as well as Nigiri/Handrolls/etc being offered. We were seated at the bar where they were making it which was fun to see items being made. We could order sushi either from the waiter or from those preparing the sushi. We opted for waters and they came how I like without ice but still cold. Additionally hosts and other staff came around regularly to fill them. As plates were finished they were quick to remove them in front of you as well. My only critiques were our server rarely checked on us and it usually had a long time between each check in which is nice if you don’t want to be interrupted. We weren’t in a hurry but probably could have been out about 30 minutes earlier. The bathroom state was pretty poor and needed some attention both to maintenance with the doors not fully closing as well as some internal graffiti and general dirtiness. Prices are higher but it is also Salt Lake and is very busy and popular so expect to spend a bit. All in all I would go back.

My overall grade for Takashi is: A+

As some of you may know, I rarely give an A+ grade. However, I tried but couldn’t poke any holes in this experience.

We arrived on a Friday at 12:30. No reservations. Yet, were seated immediately at the bar.

Great menu. Started with gyoza and ordered various nigiri and a Tiger roll.

The only small thing that I can say that didn’t go perfectly, our gyoza order got lost and we had to remind our server half way through our meal. Delicious non the less.

Unagi nigiri was great.
Tiger roll great.
Hamachi nigiri great.

Looking forward to trying Omakase

We have found our place to get sushi in SLC.

We had a great time on a Friday night at Takashi. Like others have said, the service from the host to sever to manager were all lovely. Friendly, helpful, charming! The atmosphere is fantastic from the waiting room, decor, seating options, to music. The food was great. Really unique options. I particularly LOVED the ceviche. For 5 of us, not being restrictive of what we ordered, but no kobe, no drinks – our bill was $220 including a 20% tip.

We visited Takashi for the first time for a birthday dinner. Just the two of us, so we sat at the sushi counter for the full experience. Service was great. Food was great. Drinks were great. Truly unique dessert was great. (Candy cap panna cotta FTW!) Shout out to Colton for the custom sashimi selection and secret sushi creations. We can’t wait to go back!

We visited on a recommendation while in town for a conference and the sushi was fresh, presented beautifully, and tasted amazing. Specifically the chef’s choice nigiri combo, where every bite had a different burst of flavor. Service was friendly and wait was short.

We had a fantastic experience at Takashi! Watching the chefs prepare each dish was a fun experience & everything from the sashimi to the unique rolls were wonderful. The dishes were prepared quickly & skillfully and the blends of flavors and sauces were brilliant. The Black Magic Woman and the Strawberry Fields rolls were the favorites with some great flavors and textures blending.
