I’m really disappointed with my experience at Bayou Memphis. Someone in our party ordered the pasta and it was honestly inedible — the flavor and texture were terrible. When we politely brought it to the manager’s attention, we were told they have a “new policy” and they refused to replace or refund it. For a restaurant that prides itself on Southern hospitality, this was such a letdown. Poor customer service and even worse food — won’t be returning.

Today I dined in at your Madison location and overall the experience was great until I observed a serious sanitation issue at the bar.
While seated, I watched the bartender, Hank, handling cherries and refilling the bar garnish area using his bare hands. I asked my server about it and she stated that the bar staff “tends to use their hands a lot.”
Because this is a food safety concern, I asked to speak with a manager. Michael came to the table and was immediately rude, confrontational, and argumentative. He repeatedly talked over me and would not allow me to explain my concern. During the conversation he stated that bartenders “don’t have to wash their hands or use gloves between each drink,” and mentioned that he has been in the restaurant business for over 25 years and is ServSafe approved. He then walked away mid-conversation.
I am extremely disappointed in both the lack of basic sanitary practices and the way this was handled. This kind of neglect can easily lead to foodborne illness, and the way I was treated as a paying customer was unacceptable.
I am bringing this to your attention because I believe this should be addressed immediately through proper food handling standards and management training. I would appreciate a response from the appropriate person regarding what steps will be taken.
Other than this incident, we had a great time which is why this was especially disappointing.

Titi is the most welcoming hostess at Bayou. I loved the Etouffee and the crawfish big time. I had a little bit of everything and it’s really a great place to enjoy good food and good vibes. Southern hospitality at its best. The vignette is very crunchy and soft in the inside. Thanks

I really wanted to like this place, but our visit was disappointing. The pasta was awful — truly not edible — and when we tried to talk to the manager, we were told they don’t refund or remake orders anymore. That policy makes zero sense for a restaurant that wants repeat customers. Sadly, we won’t be back.

Visited this place for lunch during a trip to Memphis. The menu has a variety of Louisiana-inspired fare. I ordered the raw oysters as an appetizer and they tasted fresh and as good as any oysters I have had in the past. I ordered the catfish po boy as my entree. The piece of catfish was huge on the sandwich but unfortunately it had a muddy taste that’s often associated with larger cuts of catfish. The other patrons were a little loose and swearing very loudly and I noticed the wait staff seemed frustrated, at least during my visit. Overall it was not horrible but I don’t think it would be my first choice when selecting an eatery.

When we ate here, the food was just ok, nothing I’d go back for, but what bothered me more is the fact that they automatically put an 18% gratuity on our bill! This is giving them permission for crappy service and a great tip! Shame on you! Nobody told us about this and there was no sign….if you are going to do this you should have your server announce it before they take any orders. The service was awful and we would have never given that much money. I promise, if the service was good, they would have probably gotten at least that much. We will never come here again.

Absolutely fire food. Blackened chicken and shrimp pastawas amazing. A mix of rich white sauce and tomatoes and small amounts of onion. The presentation was on point. Portions were perfect. Chicken was extremely soft and well seasoned. I can not get this back home in Quincy Illinois. 5/5 all day. I also had their chicken strips. Crunch was on point. Seasoned. Delicious. My wife had the shrimp and craefish antufee. She loved it. My sister had the poboy shrimp sandwich. She liked it but needed more meat. We also had 3 hurricane drinks. Delicious and made with plenty of booze. Price was fair. Gratuity was included. Staff friendly. Waiter great. Food fast!

Nice place, yummy food. We ordered bacon wrapped shrimp, a burger, gumbo and beignets with dipping sauces. Aunt Patty was our waitress and she was excellent.

We went right when they opened up and it took about 15 minutes to get our food and the appetizer came out cold and we didn’t eat it. They were nice enough to take it off the bill without us asking. The fried catfish was pretty good. The sides came out cold and the red beans and rice was mediocre at best. I was let down on this place but it is what it is
