Wow. I’ve lived in Columbia City for over 30 years, and I have NEVER ate here. This place is an absolute hidden gem. I ordered the beef brisket poutine, and my lady got the BBQ pork Mac. The food was fantastic, and I believe it was less than five minutes after we ordered that the food came out. The waitress was attentive, despite the fact that the restaurant was filling up quickly. If you live within a 25-50 mile radius of Columbia City you have go to stop in!

Hadn’t been here since my childhood but decided to take advantage of a beautiful day. They have a good view of the lake, our server was great, and the food was good. I ordered the fish basket. The fish had great tasting breading and it came out hot. I’m not a thick fry person but the crispness of them was perfect. I’ll definitely come back, gotta try the brisket poutine that they were out of.

I just got back from my 1st time being at this restaurant in over a year. Let me just say that they have taken the time and gotten their stuff together. I was very unhappy the last time I was there and this experience was wonderful. I had swordfish with asparagus and rice and it was wonderful. The appetizers were equally delicious and the service was outstanding. Thing. I’m glad my wife insisted that we went back because otherwise I would have never gone there again and would have made a rather large mistake. Kudos to the new ownership.

Disappointed to say the least. Being local, we have been patiently waiting for someone to buy this place and open in our little community.
I can give the benefit of the doubt regarding being short handed and the effect it has on the time it takes the food to come out and some service issues. My expectation is that in those cases quality of food will make up for it.
In this case it did not. In addition to the sub par service my fries were cold and the fry job on my fish was only ok. Requests were forgotten several times throughout the meal. The drinks were poured heavy, too heavy. One should not be home sick all night and the next day after 2 cocktails. I was also told “oh yeah I can make a good old fashioned.” Not the case. Regular bar cherries automatically disqualify your old fashioned, and I will leave it at that. Sadly this is the case most places.
Typically I would give another chance before submitting a review lower than 3 stars. But after witnessing one of the cooks use the restroom and not wash his hands, I was left with no choice.
I’m not writing this place off yet, if only in the hopes of having a spot in the neighborhood to enjoy again, but there is clear work to do. I have heard from neighbors the owners are wonderful and are in there busting their butts working. I have not met them yet. I appreciate hearing that, and hope and trust everything else will catch up.
If so I will change my review.

The fish was burned to a crisp. As was the baked potato. Much of it was impossible to eat. The hash browns were dripping in oil. I had lunch there 2 days ago and it was great. After having dinner there last night, I won’t go back. What a disappointment.

First time here and was very pleased! Had the bluegill dinner and it was delicious with its light breading. Looking forward to going back again in the near future.

Came here with a pretty big crowd. The food was good, but the fried pickles were closer to fried air with how much they shriveled up! That is the only complaint I have. The staff was nice and attentive. The food was good, fresh, and very filling. 8.5/10 Can recommend.

Tri Lakes Restaurant is now Big Eyed Fish from ft Wayne. We went with friends and excited to try someplace new. The place was packed. We had a very nice server. But the Kitchen is a disaster. My bf and I never got our appetizers (onion rings). Our friends got their meals and even finished before we even got our plates! The fried fish batter was very salty and inconsistent (burnt/hard crispy and wet breadding). I will post a pic of the Yellow fin tuna steak. It was tasty but over cooked and VERY SMALL! Overall, I’d say if you are just cruising for a beer or cold beverage, it’s a good place, otherwise, I’d pass.

Generously give a two stars because I was hungry and our appetizer came out fast Food, mediocre at best. All you can eat cat fish night but the server tells you “don’t order too much because she’s busy” and she’s not very friendly. Never checked on us once. No drink refills. No check just snatched out card from the table. Not many dining options around but definitely do expect much of you visit this one. Oh and the tarter sauce DISGUSTING

Server had been there 3 days was great. Very loud and noisy. Food was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Brought out beef brisket that was boiled strewn meat half raw, couldn’t cut or chew. Brought wife BBQ glazed baby back ribs, covered in mustard, a little BBQ sauce squeezed on top side of dried out ribs. Offered replacement Fish dinner, Never brought it for 35 minutes. Paid for one meal not edible and tipped 9 dollars. DO NOT EAT THERE July 2023. Drove to Columbia city and had dinner.
