If you want an authentic Irish pub experience in DC, The Dubliner is the real deal—and a huge part of that is Joe behind the bar.

Joe isn’t just a bartender; he’s a walking book of knowledge. Whether the conversation drifts into history, politics, spirits, or life in general, the guy can hold court effortlessly. On top of that, he makes one of the best Irish Coffees I’ve ever had—perfectly balanced, smooth, and dangerous in the best way.

And let’s talk about skill: Joe can properly pour a Black and Tan. Anyone who knows, knows—that’s not something every bartender can pull off cleanly, and he does it with precision and pride.

Great atmosphere, classic pub vibes, and service that feels genuine—not forced. If you sit at the bar and Joe’s working, you’re in for a great night. I’ll absolutely be back.

Missing boxty…

Trinity omelet.. I was thinking about the more pancake-like boxty, but I got the fried potatoes on the side and grated potatoes inside. Didn’t expect almost seeing latkes in the omelet. Hanukkah time it is. Apart from the unsaturated nostalgia, the food is nice. The omelet isn’t too greasy, makes me less guilty with the bangers. The melted cheese is lovely. Browned potatoes that are not too oily.

Wish someone could share a big country breakfast with me next time.

A little too quiet… no music in the background. Even the lads are eating and chatting so quietly…

Lovely decor.

Service was friendly and prompt 🙂

Gem of an Irish pub right in the heart of DC. Their Irish coffees are legit! I tried the one with Wicklow Hills whiskey and it was absolutely my favorite.

The pretzel sticks were perfect. Hot out of the kitchen with a nice crunch on the outside and soft, pillowy inside.

This is definitely a must-stop spot. It’s got that authentic Irish pub atmosphere that makes you forget you’re in the middle of DC. Highly recommend! I’m going to stop there every time I’m in DC.

The chicken pot pie was recommended by Shawn. It was fantastic. The best meal I had while we were in DC. Their fish and chips are also very good.
Shawn was very friendly and if you stop by, tell him hi!!!

Sara our bartender was so quick and super nice!! This beer serves kilkenny!!

Been over 8 years since I’ve last visited following WD’s holiday parties. So glad to be back and enjoy an irish bar that reminds me of my recent trip to Dublin.

Shout out to Colin and Andy

This place has such a lively, fun atmosphere—it really feels like an authentic Irish pub! The live music and high energy from the crowd made it a blast to be there. Our waitress was fantastic.
The food was decent. I especially loved the blackened shrimp on my salad—so flavorful! The shepherd’s pie looked amazing and was pretty good, though nothing too memorable.
Be prepared to raise your voices —between the live music and the enthusiastic crowd at the bar, it can get very loud. Only con – unenthusiastic, unfriendly hostess. She really wanted to be somewhere else.
All in all, a fun spot for good times, music, and drinks!

Came in on a cold day looking for food and were amazed. Great atmosphere, great staff, and amazing food. Best chicken pot pie we’ve had as of yet.

Cute Irish pub with traditional Irish fare. The Irish coffee is the best I’ve had. Beef stew, chicken pot pie, and fish and chips were all tasty and huge portions. My husband did not love his steak sandwich- so I’d recommend staying with the more traditional Irish dishes.

GREAT spot in DC. Terrific atmosphere. Everything you want in a Irish-American pub.

One big complaint: measly-sized Irish Coffees! Why?? And $12 a pop no less! As a New Yorker, I’ve never seen Irish Coffees so small. This isn’t the place to skimp, folks.

The food was good but there were some areas in need of improvement. The Irish Stew had zero potatoes. There were plenty of carrots but very ZERO potatoes. I figured rhe famine was still going on. Another guest had cabbage and corn beef. Some of the cabbage may not have been cooked- and the other bit was just that- a wee bit. The kid got a burger and said it was good but just ok- so in my mind- over priced. The wait staff was the best! Thank you. I would have liked to hear some Irish music in the back ground- but no. So I may have over rated it.
