Sushi, for me, is now divided into two eras — before and after discovering this place.
As a sushi lover, I’ve visited many renowned restaurants, but Chef Mitsu’s sushi is truly on another level.
Every piece, crafted with seasonal ingredients, perfectly balanced shari (sushi rice), and the chef’s unique seasoning for each fish, is simply exceptional.
The kindness and professionalism of the staff make the entire dining experience relaxed and joyful — a truly flawless and unforgettable meal.

Such an amazing and lovely omakase experience. We got the reservation time wrong but the restaurant was so accommodating in our tardiness. It didn’t hamper the experience in any way. The food, service and ambiance were fantastic. Staff were all so warm and welcoming. Highly recommend for an omakase experience!

We were originally booked at the Omakase Room by Shin in midtown, but our reservations were moved to a later time, which meant we won’t make it to the show we were going to see. I was just going to cancel but the manager suggested moving our reservation to this place and she arranged everything for us. This proved serendipitous as this proved to be quite a discovery. The moment we walked down the steps and entered the place, we were greeted warmly by the hostess, shown to our seats, and explained the whole ceremony that is dining omakase. The chef started his magic: slicing, dicing, constructing each piece with adept hands. Each serving was an event. Each piece was a feast to be savored quickly as per instructions given by the chef himself (with a quick pause for pictures, of course). Yes, it was expensive but totally worth it. It lasts about almost 2 hours. There is no rushing through the experience. If you do decide to try this place, remember, be mindful of the taste, textures, and flavor of each morsel. Dare I say, it will be transcendent.

The best traditional Omakase experience that I have been to in NYC! Chef Mitsu is a true master of his craft and he makes sure that the sushi is the star of the show. The setting of this restaurant is traditional and very intimate. I enjoy that there are no gimmicks or bells & whistles to this place. It’s simply you, the chef, and incredible sushi. The customer service by the team is also very good. You can tell the team tries very hard to make sure that you enjoy every small detail of your experience. This place is quite popular so I definitely recommend booking a reservation in advance. Also, I would encourage you to try any of their beers. These are not your typical Japanese beers that you find at your local sushi spot.

My friend took me here for my Birthday, and it was great! It was a 12 course omakase with soup and dessert for $160 per person. There were several pieces of fish that I’ve never had before, such as blackthroat seaperch and splendid Alfonsino, so it was great trying new fishes. The place was pristine, and service was very good, always refilling water and checking to see how everything was. The chef explained each piece and every piece was tasty and delicious. The red miso soup was a great way to end the meal, especially on a chilly night. Highly recommended!

Went for dinner on a Tuesday night at 8pm. Every seat at the 10-seat sushi counter was taken. It’s a minimalistic space with four employees- the hostess, the waitress, the sushi chef and his helper. The service was fantastic and we were greeted warmly with big smiles.
The chef here is a true professional and it’s a one man show similar to omakase restaurants in Japan. I loved the omakase here because even though it was pricey ($200 for 12 courses), the sushi truly spoke for itself.
Unlike other omakase spots in NYC, that puts all sorts of toppings and frills onto each piece (like wagyu on top of toro on top of caviar and gold flakes), each and every piece here spoke for itself. There was no need to add all these bells and whistles. Very fresh, very high quality.
The RICE was incredibly seasoned, and just perfect sushi rice, and the size of each piece shows why this place is true “omakase”. Especially how they instruct you to enjoy the sushi. You can tell this is a classic and it was very well worth the visit!!!

An amazing omakase experience!!! The food was incredibly fresh. I personally don’t even like uni, but even the uni was delicious! The restaurant has only 10 seats so the experience is very intimate, with one sushi chef, his assistant, a host and waiter. Everyone was super attentive, our seating area was never dirty (paper wrappers were picked up immediately) and our glasses were never empty. Absolutely worth every penny! Will definitely be back!

This was my first true Omakase experience, and I was impressed by every aspect from the food quality to the hospitality. The restaurant is very intimate with only 8 seats, so everyone gets a view of the chef artfully preparing each perfect piece of nigiri. I savored every bite
