We stopped by The Q in Fort Bragg and ordered the BBQ plate with ribs, tri-tip, baked beans, and toast. For not having BBQ in a few months, it really hit the spot! The portions were generous, the meat was tender and fell right off the bone, and the flavors were hearty and comforting.
We also enjoyed sampling the different sauces they provided — it was fun to try each one and find our favorites. The meat itself was juicy and delicious, though it could use just a bit more seasoning to bring out the smoky BBQ flavor even more.
The food took a little while to prepare, but it was clearly made fresh and worth the wait. We took our meal back to our hotel room and enjoyed it there, but there’s also a small dine-in area if you prefer to eat on site. I’ve heard their shrimp is great, so that’s definitely on my list for next time!
There were a few homeless individuals walking in the area, but we felt safe during the daytime. Overall, a great spot to check out if you’re craving BBQ while visiting Fort Bragg.

This was my wife and I first time in this little town, and being that we love BBQ, this place seems fitting to try. First off, we love the atmosphere of the moms and pop vibe with nice views of the Pacific Ocean. The service was excellent and we had no complaints there. The food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t something we had to have again. I ordered a brisket meal with mac n cheese and corn bread. In my opinion, brisket wasn’t really bbq qualified. It was cooked good, just not season like real bbq. Corn bread was OK, and the mac n cheese was my favorite. My recommendation is that you don’t come here if you’re enticed by the BBQ because you might be disappointed. However, if you just want good food, I say give it a try.

I don’t understand all positive reviews for this restaurant, maybe we hit it on a bad day. Currently CASH only. First when entering there is no smell of barbecue, no meat smell, no cooking smells, not a good sign at a BBQ joint. I ordered oysters and a half order of brisket. There were no other customers and our order still took almost a full hour. The brisket came out COLD, dry and flavorless. The baked oysters were even worse, 2 out of 4 were dead before they were cooked, rotton oysters have a distinctive horrible flavor, I didn’t even bother trying the rest of the dozen. Also somehow some of the oysters were hot and some were cold all on the same plate. Lady behind the counter insisted they were freshly shucked, I explained it doesn’t matter if they are freshly shucked if they are already dead they are not edible and shouldn’t be cooked and served.

We ordered brisket, potato salad, and cornbread. We enjoyed the food, so nice with the foggy cold day it was. The brisket was tender (Tenderism ). We will definitely return the next time we visit Fort Bragg. Dine In!!! It’s a great people watching spot.

Quintessential hole in the wall bbq joint. The menu is the standard affairs of pulled port, ribs, and chicken along with a good selection of sides.
The pulled port was flavorful and not overly dry. The slaw was also seasoned and paired well with the pulled pork.
The sides are sometimes the let down for bbq joints but not here. The Mac and Cheese was good along with their baked beans. Only mark against the sides was frozen onion rings that are run of the mill.
The staff was friendly and accommodating to make sure the order was right.

The Q was awesome! We showed up on a Wednesday evening for dinner, and the Q was quiet. The menu had endless delicious items that we wanted to try and a good beer selection. We had the blackened cod taco, macaroni and cheese, oysters, and fish and chips southern style. The staff were accommodating to all my menu questions and helped us out when we had questions about what to do in the area as tourists 🙂

We always make a point to stop by this BBQ spot whenever we’re in town. This time, we ordered to go. I had the grilled salmon with fries, and it was delicious. The salmon had a perfectly crispy sear on the outside while staying moist inside. My husband went for the baby back ribs with fries. The ribs were flavorful but slightly dry. The BBQ sauces were either too sweet or too vinegary, but the meat was great on its own without it.
