Beautiful open air garden setting with super friendly waitstaff. Everything was very clean. I ordered the combo meat and seafood. Probably the best deal since you get a full order of the meat and the seafood combo, for only $10 more. Went back to the veggie bar twice for the all you can eat stuff, it was all super fresh and clean. The ramen noodles was my favorite though. They have spices and sauces to you make your broth as spicy or however you like. Full bar too! But we only had beers. Definitely gonna go back sometime soon!
However, the owner was nice and talkative. Given there is not much food option in the Big Island, this place is still worth a visit if you crave hotpot.
So we decided to go for dinner for my birthday to try it out for the first time. The atmosphere was lovely. Once the sunset, the ambiance was great. I wasn’t paying attention to their tv monitor they had playing above the sauces but that was on.
Now you get seated and the waitress brings you a menu to look over. We had our one year old with us and she set us up with a high chair at the table. I was a little worried he might turn on his hot plate, but thankfully he didn’t. They were very patient with our son when he started throwing food on the ground. Saints all of them.
The waitress explained the menu and sauces to us. How to make our sauce and said everything was AYCE along the bar. She made my sauce for me, which unfortunately I didn’t like so I had to make a whole new bowl for myself and it ended up being much better. I got the meat with slices of beef and chicken and pork meatballs. My husband got the meat and seafood combo with slices of beef, lamb, and pork meatballs. You only get 3 choices but you can ala carte more meat if you want. Honestly it looked like it wasn’t a lot but once we got into it OMG it was a lot.
They had bread and butter, rice, sauces you make yourself, water, fruits and veggies and two different noodles for your broth. The only fruits tonight were orange and I think star fruit. You could grab any utensils you needed and anything you could possibly need.
I had the mixed bone broth and adding the ramen noodles to it was amazing. My husband had the spicy broth. While it’s not a lot of meat, you can supplement that with so many veggies. We were absolutely stuffed afterwards.
The food was great. I might try the beef meatballs next time. The service was great, they had a little cart next to the table that we used to put all our dirty dishes as they stacked up to clear the table. They had a nice variety of alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic drinks. We didn’t get a dessert menu but that’s alright, we were too full for dessert.
I wish we had gone for lunch so we could walk the garden after but alas we missed out. My husband’s gripe was they ran out of rice early. They didn’t start out service with a full pot of rice. I suspect it was the leftover rice from lunch service. I’m not sure if they made more as they hadn’t brought it out by the time we left. And he had two mussels with his seafood tray, one large and one small, and the larger one had a gritty texture he didn’t care for. Otherwise, he had a good meal.
We will definitely be going again, however, at $112 (meat meal, combo meal, 2 sodas, plus tax), it might be awhile before we go back. Definitely a special occasion kind of place but totally worth it.
This place is a scam. It’s not even all you can eat, and the portions are tiny.
I paid $45, and all the seafood was frozen, not fresh at all.
The other dishes were plain and unimpressive — honestly, you’d get a much better meal with a $9 poke bowl somewhere else.
Would never recommend. Total rip-off.
