I think because of COVID, diners should look at Paula’s again. Granted, their Basic Breakfast has gone up a bit, but what restaurant hasn’t raised their prices these days (I cant believe I am paying $20 a dish for Chinese food!)? I have been walking to here for 25 years. As a neighbor, I have always appreciated this little slice of surfer solitude. Decorated with surfboards, photos of old time surfers, old surfer posters, playing Beach Boys music, it has always been so cute! THE FOOD TASTES GREAT! The pancakes are the best I have had in SCZ. With a generous slab of butter. Eggs & bacon are cooked just right. Everyone is very respectful of others. After you dine, push your chair back in, and bus your dirty dishes and silverware to the area next to the refrigerator. There is a very nice patio dining area, or the kids love to dine in the VW Bus opposite the front door. Prices are fabulously cheap – you pay more for a McDonald’s burger at some of the Paula’s prices! Come early – weekends, the line is always out the door.

This is such a odd place. Will never come here again. So ridiculous. Only 1 refill of coffee per person or you get charged for another coffee. You order at counter because they do not have table service. They have a bunch of rules at the front door. Our party of 7 people ended up sitting at different tables. Food was mediocre. You can feel and smell the grease in the air.

This place is great. For starters, the food is good! Why complicate breakfast, it should be fast, easy, and good and that’s what this place offers. It is cash only. That being said, the prices are very reasonable. The location is right by the beach which is also an added perk. The outdoor dining area is quite nice, and I personally love eating in his renovated van. This place seems to be the last of a dying breed of restaurants that still clings on to nostalgic sentiments as seen by all the photos inside and outdoor decor. If you want to take a step back in time look no further than paula’s!

When I walked in, there was only one person to cook and take orders. The prices were amazing ranging from 2-8 dollars so we weren’t shocked when the food tasted like it came from World War II…. literally it was horrible. We were in a larger group and got a variety of the menu where all did not fail to disappoint. Potatoes weren’t cooked, bacon looked like a dog treat, the mushrooms stunk so bad that we had to evacuate, everything was either overly salty or not seasoned at all, biscuits were soggy, and french toast had a cocaine like substance on it (not powdered sugar). The trailer park next door was a beautiful touch. Do we have food poisoning? Let’s give it a few hours and find out.

From 5 star a year ago to now 1. Landlord bought restraunt from previous owner. Not as good anymore. New owner has a bad attitude and handles cash and food without wearing gloves or washing hands between. Never again.

Reliably yummy. Lovely outside dining space. One of the oldest running restaurants in Pleasure Point for a reason.

Used to be our favorite place 15 years ago, so we were excited to try it when visiting Capitola. The worst experience ever!! It was so dirty that we are still grossed out! It is filthy!!!! I am shocked they’re still open, what happened to this place? What a disappointment!

We wonder if it’s the same owner from 15 years ago, there was always a line out the door!!!!

3 stars for atmosphere because, if you can get past the disgustingness, it has incredible decor!

The man taking our order was rude. I asked if the potatoes could be well, he said no sharply instead sorry no. He reiterated it four times. Then I handed him my debt card and he goes I will never take card. Just the customer service skills were that of someone who hates to work at a Santa Cruz staple. Maybe Staples is more his speed.

Great place for a no frills breakfast or lunch. Basic food well prepared and a friendly local atmosphere with games to play while you wait. Indoor and outdoor seating. Favorite of surfers and the hungry. Walls filed with area history and the air is filled with good tunes…
Just know this is an informal, no table service type of joint.
