We had the ox cheek over bone marrow as a starter. For entres we had the venison loin over mashed with bourbon glazed carrots and a crusted pork belly over sweet potato puree. Drinks we enjoyed were a amaretto sour, classic negroni, black cherry manhattan, and a kings old fashioned. YUM!
Between the 4 of us we ordered a good selection of the new menu – scallops, the padron peppers, langoustines, nduja & hot honey Mac and cheese (pleasantly delighted by this combo!), half lobster, catch of the day (sea bass with skinny fries), beef dripping chips and a chateaubriand with cowboy butter (yum) along with a glass of red, margarita & 2 cokes – came to about £65 pp – all well cooked – couldn’t fault the flavour parings, we really enjoyed it!
Nice atmosphere for our once in a while treat.
They are first class!
The staff were friendly and attentive. Foods were amazing, probably the best burger I ever had, juicy and crispy, and the truffle fries were tasty. Totally worth the price!
We had dreamlike steaks, grilled fresh fish and mussels. Lots of young people (students?) take care of the guests in a very charming way. A great combination of high‑quality food in a laid‑back atmosphere.
After finishing the soup, we had another wait before lunch was served. I ordered the fish and chips, which were tasty, while my friend opted for the pork belly. While beautifully presented, the pork belly fell short on flavor and was just okay.
On a positive note, we really liked the restaurant’s interior decor—it had a charming and inviting atmosphere. Hopefully, the food improves on our next visit, as we’re keen to give it another try!
For the price, and the advertising, this place should be seafood heaven. But, despite the location on the east coast of Scotland, with access to an abundance of amazing produce, all you can really get is oysters (fine but small), scallops, catch of the day and langastines..oh and ‘fish and chips’. Catch of the day was sea bass…I’m no fisherman but highly caught it was caught today in Scotland and likely gane from Greece or Turkey. Why, when we have great fish here? Also, £30 including chips and salad – normally that would be £20-£25 most other places. Langastines (6) with chips and salad were £38 – that is just silly. That would be £28- £33 (max) anywhere else.
Starts arrived before drinks, we had to remind them we’d ordered drinks. 15 minutes for one to arrive, then told the other wasnt available. Another 5 mins for the alternative to arrive. Just lackluster, expensive and very very underwhelming.
