With a strong Italian heritage, the Garden State makes a great destination for this joyous dessert. Gelato is the Italian word for “frozen” ice cream originally created in the 16th century. It came to the United States in 1770, is made with milk, typically does not include eggs, and has a dense texture from a slower churning speed than ice cream.
Located on Market Street in Elmwood Park, my partner and I came to this family-operated establishment celebrating 25 years. Upon entering the cozy Four Seasons as first-timers, we were in the mood for some homemade gelato. There were a few classics one will find, such as chocolate, hazelnut, coffee, and stracciatella (vanilla with crunchy chocolate pieces), as well as pistachio, all written in Italian. They also feature hard ice cream, cakes, pastries, and coffee.
We decided on a small chocolate and medium banana and sat outside at one of the two available tables. The texture was silkier and softer with a bold, intense flavor and authenticity. The price was comparable to the area. The young staff could have been a bit more sociable.
We can recommend this place.

Solid Ice Cream Shop right off rt 80. Good variety of flavors of ice cream and Gelato. Service was great, the kids there were working hard. I would go back again.

I haven’t been here in years since we lived in Elmwood park almost a decade ago so when my mom suggested a birthday gelato cake from here, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The whole family was pleasantly surprised by not only the variety of flavors offered and the quick turn around (we only ordered a day or so in advance), but also the delicious flavor. We didn’t get anything fancy. We got the pistachio and hazelnut gelato cake and all 8 of us—some with very different pallets—loved it. Icing was a little heavy for my taste but I still couldn’t stop eating it! Nice to see a small business that didn’t give up on quality during the pandemic.

Great gelato flavors, great ice-cream and Italian ice. Classic flavors. However; I’m specifically here to rave about the cream puffs. They make the best cream puffs I have ever tasted. The fillings are absolutely amazing, fluffy. They are light and refreshing; and addicting. Highly recommend the pistachio flavor. I constantly crave these cream puffs, I go out of my way to get them, and send other people to get them for me. Great service as well, always very welcoming.

Great place for ice cream, pastries and coffee. I found this place and decided to buy coffee and pastries – and it did not disappoint!!! Second time, went in with mom and we bought ice cream, we had the stracciatella flavor and the pistachio. I am not a big fan of pistachios but I was down with this one. Went a third time for coffee on a rainy day and I can see their espresso and coffee drinks are popular. Very friendly staff

Our family’s favorite place for gelato… taste is authentic. One of the best espressos you’ll ever have! Try the pastries… not a huge selection but they are amazing. Better than most pastry shops! Not sure why anyone would give this place a negative review… we find the owner friendly and the staff is always accommodating. Nice family owned ice cream shop!
