This is a true hidden gem. The chef is an alchemist. The short ribs were amazing – tender and juicy. But the lobster garlic noodles were out of this world! Every bite was consistently garlicky. Take my word: get one each because you will not want to share.

I had high hopes for this restaurant, they were the new kid on the block and I wanted to give it a try and I was sadly disappointed. I had the flat iron steak which was chewy, and downright disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone but if you would like to try it I wouldn’t stop you. Decent medium quality restaurant.

Last minute reservation as we were ravenous! Very friendly host, great food options, very good wine list (don’t bring your own). The artichoke soup and the cold avocado soup were excellent. My salmon,was cooked to perfection. Husband greatly enjoyed his lobster pasta. Only regret is we didn’t try the strawberry cheesecake desert. Will definitely spend more time here.

Amazing experience! The only thing better than the service was the food. Quite possibly the best fish tacos we have ever had (and the garlic noodles were out of this world). The owner/chef and her partner were also incredibly hospitable/friendly. This needs to be your next date night!

What a gem! Incredible, creative flavors abound, but the wine list is also spectacular. The owners are also deeply involved in the daily operation and have fun, lively discussions with the guests. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so welcome at a restaurant before. I’m not sure why I was unaware of Bistro Viz for so long, but it’s now my local favorite in Marin!

We had high hopes for this restaurant. The squash blossom and salmon collar appetizer was very good. Two of us ordered pasta with tomatoes feta cheese and added shrimp and scallops. Pasta was sort of dry, there was no flavor except fish flavor. It was very unappetizing. The fish tacos were great. The halibut was not very tasty, the shrimp it came with was mushy. We were all very disappointed overall.

Like having private chefs prepare a perfect dining experience in a rented house on the south of France. Food was flavorful, interesting, and beautifully plated with staff that treated us like family. Get this – when the owner saw I was chilly, he not only brought out “minestronesque soup” but also a cozy blanket! Definitely my new fave spot.

One of the most delicious and memorable celebratory group dinners I’ve ever experienced! We shared several appetizers – with each one perfectly and uniquely prepared in this establishment’s very special “French with a twist of NorCal’s best.”
The meal was perfectly dressed with both bottle and by the glass selections from an exciting and complimenting wine list.
And then we received our entrees……sharing tastes with one another of our chosen French/NorCal inspired delicacies: From vegetarian to seafood to meat dishes……the most delectable entree cuisine we’ve enjoyed in the area.
(Hint on the desserts: All Spectacular – but you will never forget the fresh lemon curd topping an incredible dollop of cheesecake!)
Btw, the owners table visits and service were both joy-filled and impeccable. Oh, and they had gluten-free dishes – and awesome gf noodles ready from a prior call/request.
Ours is a normally picky and hard to please group of 8. All of us are thrilled to have found Bistro Viz – our new favorite local restaurant!

Thank you to the most kind and hospitable staff who took care of me (and my dog) when my car broke down in the rain, right by this spot. I was looking for a spot to wait for a tow truck and literally found shelter here. While I waited, to calm my nerves, I ordered a little grilled gems salad and to top it off the food also was delicious. I’m beyond grateful to the two wonderful souls who cared for me and my pup. They even gave my dog a few snacks while we waited. Thank you!!
