Absolutely unacceptable experience.

The crab we were served was clearly not fresh — the meat was grey, mushy, and had a strong ammonia smell. That is a clear sign of spoiled seafood. Serving shellfish in that condition is not just poor quality, it’s a serious food safety concern.

When we raised this with staff, the response was rude and dismissive. There was no apology, no accountability, and no attempt to resolve the issue. We were not offered a refund or replacement, despite being served inedible food.

It is shocking that a restaurant would serve seafood in this state and then refuse to take responsibility. I would strongly caution others before dining here.

Terrible experience. Only leaving one star as no stars isn’t an option. The service is terrible the staff dont want to listen to concerns over grey seafood. The food you order doesn’t come out and when you ask for it they hide in the kitchen or point blank ignore you. Your made to pay before you eat because they dont refund even when they’re serving gone off sea food. Avoid unless you want to spend a week on the toilet. Don’t even bother asking for a refund partially or fully its straight up refused and your left on your merry way.

Only giving one star because it won’t let me give none. The staff are rude and ignore you and hide in the kitchen if you have anything to say about the food. We spent £140 on a meal for three of us, the meat wasn’t there and when it was it’s grey and mushy. We spoke to the waitress about it and there was nothing they can do we asked for £30 back and it was refused told the manager wasn’t there to speak to and that was it. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU DONT WANT TO SPEND DAYS ON THE TOILET.

Absolutely phenomenal! The seafood boil in a bag was a 10/10 — incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with flavor. Every bite was tender and delicious. Easily one of the best seafood experiences I’ve had. Highly recommend!

The food is delicious, I took my mum to the restaurant celebrate her birthday – she says the same about the food.

The staff members are lovely, and provide great customer service.

The only fault that can be put is the wait time. HOWEVER, I noticed that all of the staff were wearing different hats throughout their shift as there doesn’t seem to be many of members of staff on a shift.
– the girls that I met are a real asset to the business.

I would definitely go back again, and from photos sent to my mum’s friends, they’re going to go too!

Celebrated my birthday with friends at the restaurant. Despite arriving on time, we weren’t seated and had to stand by the kitchen desk until my sister grabbed the staff’s attention. The wait for food exceeded 1 hour and 20 minutes, prompting us to inquire three times. Drinks were only served after a 40-minute wait. Adjacent tables faced similar delays.

Even after receiving our orders, one friend endured additional waiting for her dish, and appropriate cutlery for crabs was absent. Post-meal, we struggled to get attention for table clearing, dessert menu, dessert order, and the bill – a total of three times each. The entire experience, though the staff was young, highlighted the need for improved customer service training.

Despite arriving at 7:30 pm, we left just before 11 pm, an unexpectedly lengthy dinner compared to experiences at other establishments.

The food was good overall but the experience was disappointing. I was excited to try this new place as I really wanted a seafood boil in my area.

We’ve been going to **The Family Crab** since it first opened, and the food has never disappointed. You have so much choice for a reasonable price. I’ve tried most of the sauces by now, and they’re all full of flavour. The starters are great too. The mac and cheese isn’t quite like Mum’s, but it’s ideal for kids who enjoy a simple, cheesy pasta.

I noticed the payment system has changed, and staff explained it’s because some people have walked out without paying or said their takeaway never arrived. It’s understandable, but it can get a bit complicated if you’re ordering extras. Still, it doesn’t take away from the experience.

What I really like is that you don’t feel pressured to dress up or chase an aesthetic. The restaurant is simple, relaxed, and focused on good food. You go there to eat—not to take photos of the décor—which makes it easy to enjoy your meal and your company.

Tried something new thought it would be great but the letdown was real!! I would give 0* if possible

The lobster was overcooked and when we opened up the lobster it had not been cleaned at all the poop was there which made me feel really sick the whole drive home I was throwing up and had to stop the car just so I can catch my breath after throwing up! This has put me off lobster so badly that I’ll never be trying it again! So disappointed!

The Scallops were fried oily and rubbery even though I specifically asked for it in the boil

Been here a few times the food is always amazing and great value for money. We get the bottomless menu £39.99(pick 12 items off the menu;starters or pasta, and make a seafood boil with your choice) and are full and satisfied after the first round! Food made to order always piping hot and fresh seafood. Really cosy restaurant and family friendly. Staff are always happy to help , friendly and really accommodating! A few parking spaces outside the restaurant or the shops next door. Would highly recommend! 🙂

The reviews for this place are very mixed but my experience with the food was excellent! Now, it’s not the most aesthetic place but it’s clean. It does get quite cold inside though.

The drinks menu is extensive and they have a good range of cocktails, which don’t just taste like juice.

The seafood boil was so delicious. They have loads of sauce options and allow you to try. There is a long wait for food but this did not bother me as
1. You know it’s being freshly cooked
2. The food was so tasty!

My main issue with this place is their payment policy. We were a large table of mostly adults and after ordering food and drinks, we were presented with a receipt. When we queried this, we were told they have a “pay first policy”. Staff need to ensure they explain this when you’re first seated and they should also add signs. It was very bizarre, especially as we ordered more drinks and desert so we were presented with multiple bills throughout the night, all to be paid separately. We did enquire about leaving a card behind to open a tab but were told we could not.

They should rethink this policy as it makes no sense as it’s a sit down restaurant, not a Nandos style ordering system.

Unfortunately, as much as I enjoyed the food, I suspect the policy could be due to profiling the demographic who frequent the restaurant.

If they are have issues with dashers due to food wait times, they again need to set the expectations straight away and not just keep people waiting with no explanation.

However it was a 10/10 seafood boil, best non-homecooked boil I’ve had in London!
