At our Cape Girardeau, MO location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The food was hot, fresh and didn’t disappoint. We also ordered jalapeño poppers that were amazing. Lobster roll was great too.

The employees are the star here, the food is fast, fried, and as fresh as you can expect a fish and chips establishment to be 12 hours from the coast. I ordered to eat in, and got a plate to take home for my wife, and they were accommodating enough to watch and wait till we were about done so her food would be warm when we got home. The staff always seem to be smiling, and friendly, which is sadly rare these days. Top notch for Captain D’s, the staff make this place a win.

Food was greasy fries were wrinkled and old catfish Tasted like River mud they don’t cut out that brown belly meat that tastes like mud I fed it to my dogs. They liked it.

I never got all my food and they wanted me to drive 20 mins back to them to get it. So we didn’t have everything to eat for dinner. She told me she wrote my name down and then hung up on me. No customer service at all here.

Oh man! As you see it was hard to take this picture bc the other hand is SMASHING THIS FOOD! Super friendly manager took our order, got the sampler and some crab cakes (bc another recent place did me derrty on some crab cakes, how can you DO A CRAB CAKE WRONG! ITS TOO PRECIOUS!) Lol end that rant. Gotta try this place if u haven’t, everything is crispy and golden delicious, broccoli is fresh, okra is ON POINT! I will bb SOON!

Was there 6/29/25. Ordered the 2 PC fish and 2 PC chicken with 2 sides. I thought the food was going to be fresh because they were going to have to bring it to me.
All the tables were dirty. My fish pieces were more like fish sticks, my chicken strips were so hard that I couldn’t bite into either of them. My sides were fries and fried okra, both were cold and gummy. Even the soda was awful, it was carbonated water and barely any syrup.
The entire time the girl up front was talking (loudly) about customers complaining about their food. Sounds like a pattern.

I look online at the menu. We decide to get a family meal. 17.99 for four fish four chicken one side, yeah one side for a family… I walk in to order and pay cash and I can’t order the online menu option they offered! I walked out because they wouldn’t let me order what they advertised and to get it all separate it was a lot more. It’s no wonder there’s hardly anyone there on one of the busiest corners in cape. I hadn’t ate there in years and I will continue to pass it right on up. I’m miss LJS!

FYI: Drive through order was good but the wait was 14 minutes had 5 cars behind me that had to wait even longer! Food was ok & so was my order! Girl at the window didn’t apologize for taking to long just handed me my food so I could move on!
