The food was pretty good! We got the brisket and half rack of ribs with Mac and cheese, string fries, potato salad and banana pudding! Overall, I would give this place a 8/10! The staff were super friendly. I would recommend going earlier because they tend to sale out of items throughout the day! We went right at 11 and there was still a line!

Visiting from out of town, food was very good and portions are decent. Service was very poor. Worker behind the counter didn’t speak to us at all, and expected us to know where to order. Ordered a brisket grilled cheese, and was charged a dollar for the cheese I selected, which isn’t stated anywhere on the menu. They brought out our entree’s and forgot about our sides, one of our group ordered the “prime brisket burger” and it was essentially a plain burger (way over priced), and lady at the counter was rude when we went up to ask if we had received the correct burger. Good food but please teach your staff some form of customer service skills.

Delicious! Juicy- tender Brisket! We ordered ahead for pick up. The food was hot, fresh, and ready to go in no time! Couldn’t stop eating.
We ordered: Brisket, collard greens, okra, and Macaroni and Cheese – killer. The Mac was pricy, so I had high hopes; it was amazing and worth the price.
The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend.

I am leaving this review in hopes that the owners and cooks take the feedback into consideration. My fiancée and I were very excited to try this BBQ restaurant. We are both originally from the South (Texas and North Carolina), so we are familiar with how BBQ is typically prepared and served. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet our expectations.

I ordered the brisket plate with collard greens and potato salad, while my fiancée ordered the ribs plate with mac and cheese and collard greens. We also ordered chicken wings. Upon receiving our order, I noticed that I was given macaroni salad instead of the potato salad I ordered. Additionally, my fiancée mentioned that while placing the order, he had to repeatedly restate items, which made the experience feel rushed and as if our business was not valued.

The brisket contained significantly more fat than meat, requiring me to remove much of it. The collard greens had a tangy flavor and were difficult to chew, which was unexpected. The chicken wings lacked seasoning and flavor, and we had to add our own BBQ sauce, salt, and pepper at home.

Our total came to approximately $80, and for that price point, we were hoping for a much better experience. Unfortunately, we were left disappointed. While we do not plan to return, we genuinely hope the owners and cooks can use this feedback to improve for future customers.

The brisket was flavorful and tender, and the mac and cheese and okra were great sides. Loved the Bills Bbq sauce. I was especially happy to see a very clean salad bar. Actually, the whole place is spotless . Highly recommend finishing with the banana cream dessert—it was delicious.

Very clean and updated look over what was previously in that space. Friendly people working there. LOTS of BBQ flavors to dress your meats with and plenty of hot sauces. I appreciated the paper towels on the tables. I got the brisket which was flavorful and cooked to perfection.

I wish that there was more allergen information on the BBQ bottles and menu options. I would also love to see one of those sugar packet holders but with the wet wipes for cleaning your hands after.

Can’t wait to stop in again to try their other options!

As someone from Oklahoma I was leery of daring to even try BBQ since we moved here 2 years ago but we decided to give this place a try. First off the atmosphere was just like something back home and the moment I ordered brisket and I was asked if I wanted it thick and juicy or lean I knew I was in the right place (btw thick and juicy in the only correct answer) I got the brisket plate with coleslaw and collard greens. Honestly the sides didn’t hit the mark for me but that’s ok the bark on the brisket made up for it. The husband had the pulled pork, pork belly, baked beans and peach cobbler. The pulled pork was juicy (not my favorite meat) he really liked it and the pork belly. They gave him free ice cream on his cobbler for his birthday which was a nice bonus and the baked beans were really good. Now sauce, where I’m from sauce isn’t needed but it’s a nice addition. They have many flavors to choose from so if you like sauce I’m sure you will find one that’s for you. We will definitely go back and I will try a few more sides to see if I can find some that I like.

The brisket was good, but a little cold. Mac was bland, didnt have much flavor and was cold. Potato salad was on point. They were out of several items which happens but it seemed like the staff wasnt communicating on what was already sold out. The portions were small for the price. They couldn’t fill the total order of my wife’s grilled cheese after she had already ordered. We asked for a substitute but was told we had to pay for another side and the employee didnt offer any other solution even though they couldn’t fill what we already paid for. The bright spot of the staff was an amazing lady named Rosie. The food was not good enough to counter service or lack. I would pass on going there again with all the great options Anchorage has to offer. I also would not recommend this establishment to others.

Came here for a date with my husband and the food was AMAZING!! The staff were so friendly. We got the half rack of the pork ribs to share and it literally fell off the bone! Was so flavorful and the corn bread was so delicious. We also got the potato salad, Mac and cheese, and collard greens. It’s nice and clean in here and they play great music! We will definitely be coming back! Thanks for the delicious food!!

Edit: it’s been a few months, I came here again for lunch and got a brisket sandwich and Mac and cheese, the brisket was MUCH improved over my first visit. Still iffy on the price but whatever, it’s Alaska.
I was pretty miffed at waiting I think 20 minutes before we could even place our order with only 1 party of three in front of us and even they had to wait about 10 minutes to order.
If it’s going to take one guy several minutes to delicately slice and weigh meat down to the gram, you might need another staff member up front. Somehow three isn’t cutting it.
I changed my stars around for whatever that counts for. I’m a fan of the condiment/sauce bar, it’s got a good selection of good tasting options. I’m hoping this business will continue to be successful and improve.

To start: I’m incredibly excited for more BBQ options. I grew up in the south eating Oklahoma and Texas style BBQ. It’s safe to say I’ve had my fair share. I’ve missed BBQ since I moved up here.

Unfortunately I’m not sure this joint deserves the moniker “Texas-style”.

I ordered quite a bit for my first time as I wanted to get a good feeling of a fair amount of the menu.

The meats —
Brisket – Sliced is the only option it seems, it’s dry. Far too dry. It was also lukewarm by the time I got to my table. I would give these a fair grade if a buddy of mine made it, but for a restaurant, this was poor.
Ribs – these are St Louis style ribs, they are chewy, not tender, they don’t slide off the bone, the seasoning was good but nothing special. It got stuck in my teeth quite a bit from the stringy chewy meat. These were okay

Pulled pork – truly bad. Like seriously do not order this. It was COLD stringy (honestly it was a tangle of very long very thin stranded meat, more like eating noodles than pulled pork) it did not taste good and it was very oxidized like it had been sitting out for too long.

Sides —–
Okra – this may be called okra on the menu and there may be okra inside of these but this is not “Fries Okra” I’m sorry. This was very poor. They weren’t fully cooked through, and the batter was the strangest concoction. Frozen okra from the store is better than this.

Mac and cheese – this was good, it has a thick creamy consistency and decent flavor. Nice and hot temperature, overall “good”

Cowboy beans – this was also surprisingly good. I was worried it was too many things in a complicated bowl. One critique is that you really should add some chopped brisket with smaller pieces rather than the 2 half inch chunks I had in my entire bowl. Better dispersion of the meat would have made this side very good.

Cornbread – it’s tough. I think they said it’s a jalapeño cornbread but you can’t really taste it. This wasn’t quite hard as a brick, but it was close. Poor

Apple cobbler – this was bad. Truly bad. It was overly sweet. I don’t have a great palete, but It tastes like I had a mouthful of honey with a hint of apple. It has the consistency of mashed potatoes. The breading on this was not crispy, not flaky, just mush. Extremely poor.

I really want this to be a restaurant I frequent. I LOVE good BBQ, but I’m really sorry to say this is not good BBQ.

The last thing I want to touch on is price. My FAVORITE championship BBQ restaurant in the world is literally half this price. I understand it’s logistically more expensive to have a restaurant here than it is in Oklahoma or Texas, but in Oklahoma I’m paying $25 for twice the amount of food, as compared to the $31 single meat brisket platter…

Oh and the sauces were okay, unique but not great.

I’m very sorry to say, 2-stars.
