The food was served hot and tasty five out of five for me! You must try if you’re in the belton /temple area!! You guys come look for Daniela, an awesome waitress along with a friendly staff
We were warmly greeted upon entry, and when we mentioned we weren’t sure where we needed to go , because we didn’t really want a bar, but real food , the extra welcoming host staff gave us the layout and a quick look at the menus and eventually seated as at Mario’s …to the left.
It was Milla’s 2nd night, so she met us with her trainer, Lupita.
We started with drinks from the bar, and my husband was served a 32oz Margarita that he sipped on all throughout dinner, my Paloma was much smaller but fairly tasty, and I was pleased that it left me plenty of room to order another. Served in a tiki glass , my cinnamon and tequila cocktail was so refreshing , fruity and amazing.
Looking over the menu, we started with Queso fundito and chips, oysters on the half shell with ceviche and steamed shrimp. But for our entrees we could not make a decision,
Lupita enthusiastically described all of the best dishes and even offered to bring us the sauces that some of the foods were cooked in so we could make up our minds.
The ranchero sauce was so deeply flavored, I’m definitely going to get that on a subsequent trip!! But in the end, I went for the creamy soup. It was filled with fish and everthing was so tender. The crab clusters were a nice meaty break from the silky broth but I kept spooning that up too.
We left happily overfull and eagerly anticipating returning for more great food!
Extremely reasonable prices, with tons of fun specials through the week– we might even hit up the pool tables!
The culichi-style oysters were next level. I haven’t had oysters that fresh since my trip to Mexico. The birria tacos were authentic and packed with flavor, easily one of my favorite meals. The fajita trio was superb, and the shrimp were cooked to perfection—seriously finger-licking good.
Service was fantastic. Friendly, attentive staff made us feel right at home. The manager even let us sample three upcoming mocktails—pineapple, grapefruit, and tamarind based. All three were delicious, so watch for them to hit the menu soon.
Mario’s is under new management and clearly heading in a great direction. If you want amazing food, a relaxed atmosphere, and top-notch service, give them a try.
