I recently had an absolutely stellar dining experience that I simply must share, and it centers around a hidden gem known as The Pickle and Ash. Tucked away delightfully off the main thoroughfare, this establishment truly exceeded all expectations from the moment we arrived.

The entire team, from the gracious hostesses who welcomed us warmly, to the incredibly attentive wait staff, operated with a level of professionalism and genuine hospitality that made our evening seamless. Meeting the owner was an unexpected pleasure; their passion for the restaurant was evident and truly infectious.

Now, let’s talk about the food. For my main course, I indulged in the ribeye, masterfully cooked to a flawless medium-rare, and perfectly complemented by a rich, savory bacon jam – an inspired pairing that elevated the dish to new heights. My wife chose the salmon, which was impeccably prepared, moist, and flaky, demonstrating a delicate touch. To start, we shared the grilled scallops, plump and perfectly seared, hinting at the culinary excellence to come.

While many laud The Angus Barn in Raleigh as the pinnacle of steakhouses in North Carolina, I can honestly say that The Pickle and Ash has, for me, redefined that benchmark. The quality and execution here are simply unparalleled.

Our fantastic evening was made even more special by our waiter, Robert. His encyclopedic knowledge of the menu, impeccable timing, and wonderfully engaging sense of humor truly enhanced our dining pleasure.

I’m already looking forward to my next visit, particularly as spring approaches, to fully experience their charming outdoor area, complete with inviting seating and cozy firepits. It promises to be an idyllic setting for an evening out.

Do yourself a favor and seek out The Pickle and Ash. It’s an extraordinary culinary destination, and I’m confident you’ll find yourself just as impressed as I was.

Warmly,

Bobby and Nichole Marshall

We love coming here.

Some of the best coffee. It’s French press and you can buy some to take home.

The vegetables were a highlight of the meal. The pesto, in particular, was well-made and paired nicely with the zucchini and squash. The roasted potatoes were cooked to a satisfactory standard. Unfortunately, the chicken with peach glaze did not meet expectations, as it was overcooked and dry, despite its good flavor. My husband’s ribeye steak was decent, although he was not fond of the alternative sauce provided, preferring A1 instead. On a positive note, the creamy chicken soup with mushrooms was enjoyable. The service provided by Jessica, our waitress, was also commendable.

I have nothing but good things to say about this gem of a restaurant. The butternut squash soup was outstanding. So full of flavor. It was obvious that the chef put his heart into it. My husband and I each had the hamburger with hand-cut fries. The burgers were so yummy and cooked to perfection and the fries were scrumptious beyond words. You can tell that they use the freshest ingredients. The wait staff were warm, friendly, and delightful. They made sure we were happy and had everything we needed. We had been here once before and it was just as wonderful, so they are consistent in serving quality and delicious food. Love this place and cannot wait to go back!

Had the best meal at this little gem! The food was delicious and full of flavors and vegetables. I had the trout which was exceptional and my husband loved the burger. And do not miss the mocktails! Outstanding flavors, not too sweet, complimented the food beautifully. Creative, friendly and delicious- we can’t wait to return!

Seriously such a great experience!! Truly farm to table restaurant and the best of that style I have ever had! You can make reservations, but we did not and had no trouble. We did the heirloom tomato salad special they had (oh my gosh!). For entrees my husband had their filet special and I had the ravioli with shrimp. Everything was so good and fresh, even the bread!! They have a cute patio out back that will be fabulous in cooler temperatures. All the staff was friendly but specifically the manager and our server Katie. Katie was amazing! They have local artwork displayed, local drinks for sale. If you are looking for a great local place, this is it!

Pickle & Ash in Stuart, VA, is a cozy, hidden gem that brings Appalachian flavors to life with a fresh, modern twist. The farm-to-table focus is evident in every dish, with seasonal ingredients that elevate classic Southern flavors. The steak medallions were tender and cooked to perfection. The restaurant’s warm, inviting decor and friendly staff make it the perfect spot to enjoy top-notch food in a relaxed atmosphere.

This was our first time here, dinner with long time friends. We’d heard good things about Pickle and Ash and we can confirm they’re true! Our server was great, good sense of humor, attentive, personable and accommodating. She took good care of us! The food is the star! Simple menu but the food is complex, more what I would expect in Charlotte, Atlanta or NYC, but it’s in Stuart! It’s easy to hit $100 for dinner for 2, so don’t let that catch you by surprise. You can get out under $40 but once you see what’s up, you’ll wanna go over! The only drawback is once the restaurant is full, it gets loud and is hard to have a conversation. Other than that, fantastic place!

I had been following Pickle and Ash on social media for some time before having the occasion to visit. We took a family road trip from Danville to Wade’s orchard and stopped here for lunch on the way back home.
The service was stellar. Our waiter, Brandon, was friendly and patient as well as knowledgeable of the menu and the establishment. He happily answered my grandfather’s inquiry of where the name of the restaurant came from. Every dish we ordered was delicious. We split a dessert that was melt in your mouth amazing. I think we all picked up something in the market as well. Overall, this was such an enjoyable experience and we all look forward to visiting again.
If I had to find one complaint, it is only that they have those little metal chairs that are so popular in restaurants now. As a plus sized woman, they just aren’t ample enough.
