There are competitive places to eat Vietnamese cuisine and each one of them has their own specialties or flare.
The prices here at japolo are industry standard.
I got number 20 large. The crab is imitation crab and I thought it was the crab patty. The broth is good but not exceptional. My friend got number 21, the bun bo hue and it was good but not disappointing. We have both dined at many Vietnamese restaurants. It wasn’t what we expected but hey, it’s still tasty.
Service is a downer with the lady. She was very grumpy but when we paid she finally cracked a smile. It may have been an off day, come on, we’ve all had our off days, right?
I think this place survives with all the autobody and car shops around, perhaps even with the other workers along Bridgeport. Maybe even with the residents along no. 5 road and river road. I still think it’s great to have this place in the North Richmond neighborhood. But if you’re looking for a type of specialty, this wouldn’t be the place to explore. It’s a place that caters to the locals in that area.
It’s still a great option over junk food.
Too bad there isn’t a decimal rating. I would at least consider a 3.5 rating.
It’s the kind of recipe that feels comforting and satisfying with every bite. If you’re craving a hearty and delicious bowl of chicken pho, this place is a must-visit. This is another recommendation on top of the lemongrass chicken.

Wow, another gem for a good value dining in Richmond. I love searching for good quality fresh healthy foods around and this is one place where you can find some options. I had lemon grass chicken here and it’s delicious!
When the food arrived, I was surprised by the amount of rice , but best thing of all and to my surprise, they included a clear soup to go with the rice , as if they read my mind. The owners are authentic, and so is the food. The spring roll was just right for my tongue, and it was not too oilly, and still crispy. The chicken too was nicely cook and flavored. Wish they add a slice of tomato to the salad would be nice. A bit too much green onion on the top, but it was really good to have the clear soup. A bit on the sweet side for after taste, it would be nice if it add few drop of lemon to it. Overall it was good service, i would give an extra half star but , the scale only have full star.
Update: It has been 6 yrs since I came to this place, the food was still good and so is the spring roll. I guess what I missed was the soup that comes with the rice dishes that most other pho I have been doesn’t provide. The Meat was good, my friend said she likes the pork chop, I wish for it to be a bit more salty, but with it light it still taste good , as light salt good for older people.
If you are around Richmond home Depot , drop in to this little pho pass chevron gas station, next to Scotia Bank.

(Update)We’re forced to eat again because of convenience, menu says 17.5
Ended up charging 18.2 + 0.25+ 1$ tax? (20$ for the rice) lmao
