The restaurant is very pretty and small. Host was welcoming and our server was very attentive. The appetizers were delicious and fresh. The rolls were just okay, the cucumber and eel roll was a disappointment, it barely had either. Their special $34 roll was over priced and not worth the cost. The dessert was delicious and tasty. We will go back at some point for more appetizers and try their hot dishes. Their draft Japanese beer was very good too!

Nice surprise in Cresskill. New ownership (for me). Renovated restaurant, excellent Japanese food. Most of the food I really liked. Personally I didn’t like the pig belly. The food is very unique and tasty.

Fantastic Japanese Restaurant located in NJ. I remember coming here as a child with my family. The food is still consistently amazing after 15+ years later. I highly recommend ordering sashimi or sushi plates along with a sukiyaki. The staff are also very friendly and accommodating, as they let us celebrate my brother’s birthday with a cake we brought.

Absolutely incredible. We went as soon as it opened because we needed to schedule our meals around our puppy… So we were there by 510pm. The only issue was that it’s a little awkward being the only table in the restaurant and sitting at the sushi bar… Cause we had like eight people attending us and looking at us and listening to our every word. But you can look at it in another way and assume it felt like more of a private dining experience, which is cool.
Because it was our first time there, we didn’t wanna opt for the Omakase because my husband and I have had mediocre Omakase experiences and they don’t come cheap. And something we didn’t realize that this place does, that many other Omakase places don’t do, is make their sauces in house to pair with the fish. A lot of omakase spots locally don’t care to make a budget for sauces when they can get it ready made. A huge unique selling point of this place was at each sauce was separately made and stored in different containers to pair with the fish it was intended for… And when the chef had mentioned that a lot of Omakase places don’t do this, It made a lot of sense.
We ordered the Hamachi Jalapeño, tuna Crispy rice, tuna 5 ways, single nigiri pieces of sea bream and mackerel on my side and my husband ordered more basic pieces which I can’t recall. We also Ordered the Hokkaido scallop cucumber roll.
As soon as we tried the apps, we regretted not doing the omakase just because we knew it was gonna be that good. For Context, I haven’t found any place in New Jersey that felt like a go to sushi spot that had high-quality fish, incredible pairings and seemingly consistent.
The Hamachi jalapeño were bigger cuts of tuna with like this jalapeño paste sauce. It was amazing and proper spicy. No addtl sauce needed.
The crispy rice tuna was insane. The hot rice paired with the cold tuna and their fixings were amazing. It didn’t look like much, but it packed a huge punch of flavor. I think it might be the wasabi they use But both the wasabi and soy sauce were insanely good
The tuna way of our little attempt at omakase ish. They gave you four pieces of Nigiri ( 2 being fatty tuna pieces) And a chopped tuna hand roll. I’m a texture person so I wasn’t a fan of the hand, but each piece of tuna was better than the next. The fatty ones were insanely melty and lovely And I just really goes to show that I don’t think I’ve had good high quality, fresh sushi or fish from many places Because no place matched up to this.
I had ordered a piece of sea bream which was insanely good. I’ve never tried anything like that before and if I could, I would order 20 of those alone. The mackerel was really good and not fishy at all as well.
The Hokkaido scallop Cucumber roll was very simple, but packed a huge bunch of flavor when you dipped it in the spicy sauce that it was paired with alongside a soy sauce wasabi combo. You could taste the quality and freshness.
I was drinking a glass of sparkling wine… The wine was fine before I had the sushi… But drinking a sip while eating my sushi totally changed my palette as the sparkling wine paired so well that it became sweet.
Last, but not least the miso cheesecake – Absolutely incredible and made in house. We ordered two more to go And they thought we were joking. That’s how good it was.
I don’t miss New York City when I have sushi from places like this.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was warmly greeted by the friendly staff, making my first visit feel incredibly welcoming. The service and hospitality were exceptional, making me feel truly pampered. The food and sushi were out of this world! After struggling to find a great sushi place in Jersey, I finally found a gem. Each piece of sushi melted in my mouth, and paired with a fantastic cocktail, the experience was absolutely worth it. Also, don’t miss out on the dessert! They’re incredibly unique and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Service, decor, and atmosphere was absolutely top tier! The interior took me straight back to Japan. Jugemu deserves a visit (regular meal or special occasion) especially if you enjoy japanese food!
The food was very authentic from the sashimi to the sukiyaki, and the desserts (omg the desserts). The wagyu sukiyaki has a very sweet broth (almost too sweet tbh) and the dipping egg sauce was a bit over hyped. The eel bowl and sashimi bowl were true to their taste with the freshest ingredients, would recommend. The tempura was also very authentic with matcha salt (must try). The desserts I have to say were by far the best. The animitsu and hojicha tiramisu alone are worth the visit!

The sushi was ok. One of the pieces wasn’t fresh but the rest were ok. There was too much dressing for the amount of salad, so it was salty. The tempura was served while I was eating the sushi and the shrimp tempura was not crispy. The table was pretty big so our server could not reach to take the empty salad bowl. I couldn’t understand why she had to interrupt us while we were eating to ask us to pass the empty plates 3 different times. She was very nice and friendly but it would be better if she knew how to serve. Generally, it was ok for $29.

My new go to sushi place outside of sushi aoiki omakase. Fish tasted super fresh. Everything we ordered was great. Creative desserts are a plus as well. Expensive but worth the price.

We had omakase tonight and are already planning the next visit. The food was wonderful, the textures and flavors an explosion of delight. Service was friendly and attentive, and there’s a great sake menu too. Grateful to have such an excellent place close to home (I mean, I did mention the sake :))

we came back with friends and then with the kids. Everyone found amazing food to eat, and there’s even a private room for small family celebrations! I loved to see vegan and/ or gluten free options beyond sushi (I had the best tofu salad) and the service was perfect. I definitely recommend this place.
