First stop off the plane, was on the fence on either @fegesbbq or another spot. I saw carrot cake on the menu and that was the ultimate decider. This is my first time here and was surprised to walk into a food court. I’m a sucker for sliced pork belly. The immediate hit of the sweetness that comes off the pork and the taste of smoke. Between bites of the spicy jack cheese sausage that balanced the spiced with the simple is best fight in my mouth. Such a nice and smokey brisket melted into my mouth and into my soul. Btw a wonderful dark crunchy bark. Makes me miss being in TX. Between these fatty smoked meats, the elote corn salad was a nice acidic and refreshing bite. And in the end the thing that made me want to come here. The carrot cake! So moist!!! best carrot cake I’ve had? Idk, but I cant think of anything else right now. All this in the last place I expected . . . a food court of all locations. After my meal, definitely I agree with their shirt of being the best food court barbecue in TX . . . heck the US. Even without falling in that niche category, it was a delicious meal.

Hey! Prob the best bbq I’ve tasted in Houston. Brisket was seasoned well and moist and tender. Ribs were a little sweet for me but seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The restaurant was an adventure to get too and found out that it wasn’t the original place. It’s this good at the second store!?!?

God Bless Feges BBQ for supporting our Veteran community like no other! This Veteran owned BBQ spot located in Greenway serves up an amazing BBQ plate for Vets every Friday for free!
Plate includes 2 meats, 2 sides a dessert and a fountain drink!!
The BBQ is outstanding. I’m presently stuck on brisket and smoked turkey. I’m gonna have to work my way through the other items on the menu in the near future. Don’t sleep on the sides. Some of the best around. The baked potato salad is money.
Their house made pickles are better than anything out of a jar.
Thank you FEGES for your great work and great food

I recently experienced absolutely stunningly-delicious craft barbecue in one of the most unlikely places you might think of – at a corporate building food court in Greenway Plaza near downtown Houston. Yes, you read that right – a food court. Feges BBQ (it’s pronounced almost like you would say the plural of the word Fiji — “fee – jis”) is that place – and man is it awesome!! They have been open for right around two years now. It was started by Patrick Feges and his wife, Erin Smith. Erin is classically-trained chef, who has held key posts at some pretty amazing restaurants in NYC and Houston. She has also been the winning chef on Chopped, the popular show on the Food Network. Patrick has been smoking meat professionally since 2012, and has received training at some pretty amazing Houston-area barbecue spots before they opened their Greenway Plaza restaurant. When I say their barbecue is amazing, I am not alone. Just last year Feges BBQ was named one of Texas Monthly Magazine’s Top 25 New Barbecue Joints in Texas. They have just incredible smoked meat. There are too many choices honestly. I wanted to try the whole hog (yes, as in what they do in the Carolinas and Tennessee), pork belly, pulled pork, turkey and their boudin. But I knew that I had limited space in my stomach. And since this was my first visit, I went with the Texas Trinity of brisket, pork ribs and sausage.

— Brisket – I love the point end of the brisket, so went with some slices of fatty. And I tell ya, that brisket was stunning, It was very moist, lucious, and melt-in-your-mouth, with a great bark and fantastic flavor.
— Pork ribs – The pork ribs were a St. Louis cut, with an outstanding bark, a great chewy exterior, and the meat was moist and flavorful.
— Sausage – The sausage was exceptional. It had a firmly-packed filling with a reasonably-fine grind and great flavor. And it was smoked beautifully, with a good snap to the casing and not too chewy or shriveled up.

What I wasn’t prepared for was both the variety and deliciousness of their sides. There were too many to choose from. I ultimately decided on Erin’s Moroccan spiced carrots and the elote corn salad. Both were fantastic. Given that they are in a commercial building food court, they also offer other choices – like kale salad or BBQ chef salad for lunch. The housemade pickles and pickled red onions and their two different kinds of barbecue sauce were very nice complements to the amazing meat.

I wish I would have had room for dessert. I’ve heard great things about them as well – especially the banana+caramel cream pie. The truth is, I am going to have go back again (and again) to try the food that I didn’t get to try this time around. If only Greenway Plaza were a shorter drive… Oh well.

I love an excellent bbq place in an unassuming business park’s food court.

If you get here before the lunch hour (10 to noon) there is no wait time and plenty of tables.

We got the brisket, pork ribs and against my partners suggestion of no sides, we had mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Sides were tasty but never needed to be a part of a bbq tour Houston -hah! Now o agree, sides are unnecessary

Brisket had a great bark and a nice smoke ring.

Pork ribs were very tender but honestly, since we are from CA, we want to do beef bbq.

My partner is a far better than good pitmaster, so when we sample bbq, I have to remember to listen to him (no more sides!).

Brisket: 8/10
Pork ribs: 9/10

Came here to Greenway Plaza with high hopes given all the great reviews and was kinda let down by the brisket which frankly was a little dry. Tried both flat and cap for comparison. Think I caught them on a quiet day so maybe it dried out as it wasn’t moving fast.

Mac and cheese was good (could use a little more sharpness but that’s a taste thing) and Brussels sprouts were hands down best I’ve had recently.

Gonna try them again, I think I just caught them at the wrong time / location. Staff were really nice and there was a slight sweetness to the brisket bark which was a nice change.

Fantastic barbecue that won’t leave you napping at your desk. Not only is the trinity fantastic but the sides are wonderful as well. An abundance of variety that makes Feges an easy regular spot for lunch.

Look for daily specials as the whole hog is a can’t miss. Top notch food from a great couple!

If you’re trying to make a case for Texas BBQ being superior to others, this place will help your argument! They have better side options than most joints I’ve seen around town. Their burnt ends were tender, juicy, and a perfect mix of fat and lean pieces. The pulled pork had amazing flavor. The meats can stand alone, and in my opinion, that separates good BBQ from excellent BBQ. The brussels also had tons of flavor. The cornbread was super moist and not too sweet; I liked it, didn’t love it, but the cinnamon honey butter does great things for it. The sauces were uniquely different: I loved the kick of the gochujang.. Alabama white + pulled pork = perfect couple. There’s so many uniquely different and delicious options at Feges that you can put together an amazing platter. Two thumbs up!
