Social Profile:

I have dreamed of seeing this restaurant come to life for many years. The concept is close to my heart and in every way a representation of the culture I have been lucky enough to inherit from my home country, Mexico. My family, and specifically my mother, ignited in me a passion for cooking. For La Doña, my husband, Andrea Covino, also inspired me by having a restaurant, Andrea Trattoria Italiana, exemplifying his roots. We have worked endlessly with our sons Luca, Brian, and Carmine as inspiration. Therefore, I hope to share my roots, the true Mexican and specifically Oaxacan cuisine and gastronomy that I learned from my culture.

Relaxed restaurant serving Oaxacan-style Mexican dishes in a warm, relaxed space with a patio.

This is a nice and authentic Mexican restaurant. Their staff did an excellent job taking care of us. They were very accommodating and make space for our group of 9 without a reservation. Siena, our server, was excellent. I saw how they work in a team to ensure that all of us were having a great experience. Food was excellent. They had a special of tuna ceviche that I really enjoyed.

Expensive food, small portions, decent taste. Save your money, also no AC. Exorbitant prices due to high rent. Tip for the restaurant, cut price to attract more customers and increase size. That way you can get more sales. I see it all the time restaurants charge more and more and they eventually close

Awesome Mexican restaurant! We sat outside and loved it! Homemade guacamole right in front of your table. I had a spicy pork torta, and my fiancé had three pulled pork tacos that were actually delicious. Very moist and flavorful. the TORTA was crunchy and delicious

Classic Mexican food in a modern presentation. Everything we ordered was really tasty, flavorful and well prepared. The only improvement they need is to have more space because if your party is more than two you may have long waiting time for a busy weekend night. Service was great but relatively little bit slow within acceptable limits. They don’t serve booze but feel free to bring your own bottle. Ask for daily specials and definitely try freshly-made guacamole which will be prepared just front of you.

Absolutely loved this place! What a fun ambience and was very clean and airy too. The table-side guac was simply fantastic!! Verde enchilada was so flavorful. Tres leches was yumm!!! The only thing you need to be aware of is that they dont have too many veggie options, but whatever they have, is delicious! It’s BYO.

The place looks nice, so we decided to give it a try. Don’t get me wrong, the food isn’t bad, but I had much better for less, so can’t give more than 3 stars at the moment. We each had 3 tacos and shared some salsa & chips. While not bad, those were the 3 saddest tacos I ever had… plain meat, onion & parsley, no cheese, no pico de gallo, no salsa… all I can say is that if I have to choose between Qdoba and this place, I will choose Qdoba 10 times more. The service was ok, the food was ok, just not worth the price. So can’t really recommend it.

We (my husband, my two son’s and I) had an early dinner tonight at La Doña in the Carpenter’s Square Mall. (BYOB/BYOT) At 5:00 we were able to be seated, no wait. Outside dining. We ordered four aqua frescas, three Hibiscus flavored and one lemon. The Hibiscus was very tasty and refreshing. My son loved his lemon flavored drink. Appetizers were: prepared at table-side guacamole and chips, which was delicious. Also, chicken empanadas, an appetizer special. The dough was amazing, so light and tasty.
For dinner we had fish tacos (2 orders) carne asada and chicken enchiladas in green sauce. I also had a side of Elote, Mexican street corn. Everything was so fresh and delicious. We then ordered dessert because we oogled another table having dessert and they looked so good. We had spicey chocolate, two orders of flan (best we’ve ever tasted) and tres leche cake. Everything we ate this evening was just so good. Our service was phenomenal from our waiter to refills of water, we were very well taken care of. We let the owner know twice how fantastic everything was. This was the best meal we’ve had since we arrived. So authentic. The vibe, music, food and atmosphere is perfect here.

Excellent Mexican restaurant. The food was extremely good. Table side guacamole service was spot on. The creator asked for spice level as well as every ingredient. The waitress was beyond helpful and friendly. She offered recommendations for our food allergy child (toquitos were a hit). The mexican cokes were glorious!! We will definitely be returning in the very near future.

I want to start by saying that the food wasn’t worth what you pay. What led me to leave a one-star rating was the overall lack of organization, professionalism, and respect. Particularly from the owner herself.
We were told the wait time would be 25–30 minutes, but we ended up waiting over an hour to be seated. After finally being seated, we waited another hour for our food to arrive. During that time, our server checked on us only once (about 10 minutes before the food came out.)
What was most disappointing, however, was the owner’s behavior. After leaving what I felt was a fair tip for the level of service we received, the owner, “La Doña,” called out to us, saying, “Goodbye, next time learn how to leave tips.” I found this to be incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional, especially coming from someone representing the business.
No one should be pressured into leaving a large tip when the service does not meet basic expectations. I believe the owner should reflect on how she treats her customers. Especially, members of her own community. At the end of the day, it’s the customers who keep a business running, and that deserves appreciation, not criticism.

We will not be returning nor recommending.
