Today my friend and I stopped into Port Dover for something to do. It was ideal motorcycle weather. We stopped in at The Cove Room for some perch and chips. The fish was definitely the star of our plates, nice thin breading, very crisp and the fish was firm and moist. Very tasty! The fries needed salt, but that was easily remedied.

I have been meaning to try the Cove Room for ages. Always hearing about the perch and the celery bread.
I have to say, it lived up to its reputation.
The perch was very lightly dusted, crisp but done to perfection. The legendary bread was equally great. Our server also presented us with a variety of salads. All, quite good.
The service was excellent.
I would definitely recommend trying this legendary establishment.

went to 50th Anniversary party in Banquet room. The service was horrible it took forever to get drinks The WAITERS were forgetful. THE Main Kitchen is next too room THE PIace was packed and They were carrying food through the crowd to other rooms bumping into us trays hitting people and people’s food was on the trays it was pathetic. It was family style They brought tiny bowls of gross salads The food cold Roast Beef was tuff perch was not tasting very good They never brought enough food for tables People were waiting 20 minutes longer The one waiter took a basket off another table with 2 pieces of celery bread because some asked for bread they never got any we paid 60.00 plus gratuity which is 15% of bill added on well overpriced and Horrible Food and service Never going back

The food was excellent and the service was extremely friendly. We got so much food that we took enough home for supper the next night and it still tasted fresh.

The room we rented was attached to kitchen. Got bumped into by one waitress so many times. There was constant traffic in and out. Our 50+ guests had almost no table service. I never once got asked if I would like a beverage. I felt like waitress were to busy to even ask, they were running back and forth non stop….to other rooms in the building!!. Salads were disgusting & food was cold and poor quality. Food was basically whipped on tables. Will not recommend, nor be back.

I have always had the perch dinner and love it. Decided to try pickerel this time. Still good but not at the perch level.
Always go for the dinner. Stick to fish and avoid steak. Celery bread is outstanding and try every salad. Not sure why they put whole green onions on the pickle plate. Who eats that?

Unfortunately this restaurant is very mediocre and extremely expensive. I had the Peach Beach and it was $10 for mostly ice. We all got the perch and it was very disappointing, it was extremely bland and barely battered and there wasn’t much sauce given. It is not really traditional fried fish and chips. There is barely any batter and you even have to pay extra for a side like the fries… the only thing worth going back for is the celery bread, it was absolutely amazing, but even that was an extra $2 for each piece haha. Overall, a bill of $80 for 2 ppl who didn’t even get an appetizer is extreme especially when the food is lacklustre.

Excellent service! Great food! I like that it wasn’t the traditional boring green salad but a coleslaw, ambrosia, cucumber and mixed bean salads. We shared them amongst each other. Perch was very good, and French fries were good. Very nice restaurant–a stand out in a below average beach town.

We ate on the patio 2 weeks ago. Calamari was soggy despite asking for it to be dropped back into the deep fryer and the cream cheese stuffed jalapeño peppers were from the supermarket.
I have been this restaraunt in the past..the food is never good. I won’t try again because it is getting by on on its history and former reputation.

This restaurant is a pleasant, quiet place like stepping back in time. White tablecloths and nicely appointed tables. The salads that come at the beginning of your meal are excellent with a nice variety and plenty to go round. The fisherman’s platter was excellent including pickerel, perch, shrimp and scallops. Service here is very good. We had a delectable cheesecake dessert and we were extremely full when we left. What a great place with some wonderful tradition and history.
