I have mixed feelings about this place. We arrived and were seated straight away. Our server was nice and explained some menu items to us. However, we never really saw him again. He didn’t check In on our food or ask if we wanted soy sauce etc. The food is fairly bland which is a shame. My ramen just felt muted. I eventually asked for some soy when I could catch someones eye but it took a while to come. This place is lovely inside but it’s expensive for what you get. I think I wouldn’t rush back which is a shame as I like to support local !

Four softy southerners in need of winter warmers whilst showing our son the university, all fed with beautiful food in a relaxed and welcoming restaurant. The broth was excellent; tasted exactly like it would at home, and service was polite and attentive. Our son was really thrilled to have the Filipino (surely the sweetest person in Newcastle?!) and Japanese servers testing his Tagalog and Japanese, so we have to say an extra thank you for being the icing on the cake for our visit- it was that moment that put Newcastle university over Cambridge for him! If you ever need kitchen staff in 2027 drop me a message

Amazing restaurant in Newcastle. The first time we had been here, so went for the five course set menu and was amazing. The service was perfect with staff very kind, friendly and knowledgeable

This was the best Japanese food I’ve had outside Japan. I came across it by chance yesterday on a visit to Newcastle university. We had a selection of small dishes and they were all delicately flavoured and very tasty. For example aubergine with miso, unagi nigiri, tuna maki, seafood salad, prawn gyoza. The presentation was beautiful. And the service was really lovely. Thank you for this pleasurable experience.

Had an absolutely fabulous meal here for my partners birthday.
We had the oysters to start, which were genuinely the most delicious oysters we’ve ever had.
Then we had the ramen and a side of sushi for the main. It was amazing; so tasty!
The selection of sake was also fantastic, and very reasonably priced.

The staff were the highlight of the night. There was one man in particular who was a ray of sunshine. He was so attentive, personable and friendly. The service was also very fast.

The restaurant was decorated very nicely, with comfy booths, good music and overall a really good vibe.

We will definitely be back in the future! 10/10.

Excellent Japanese food. The mango wasabi prawns were beautifully presented, and the combination of flavours was awesome. The spicy chicken ramen were great, too.

The food tasted great and the sashimi was fresh. However, the portion sizes were relatively small, and the prices were on the higher side. The restaurant’s decor and ambience were fairly average, but the staff were polite and provided good service.

I had a very disappointing experience. The £39.9 grilled beef was hard to believe— the crispy coating was completely separated from the meat. It felt like it had been reheated in the microwave, as the coating was soggy. I hope this can be improved.

On a positive note, I really enjoyed the tempura shrimp set, pork bone ramen, and tamago sushi. Everything else was great!

I must also commend the staff for their excellent service. When I finished my meal, they asked how everything was. I bravely shared my disappointment about the dish, and the staff member was understanding. He said he would relay my feedback to the chef. This employee’s service attitude deserves a perfect score of 100!

We loved it here! We had tried a few different similar spots so wanted something new. The staff were AMAZING and the music/vibes were great. Reasonably priced with an extended soju menu (love). As a gluten-free person, the food was good, and they had a nice amount of options. I would definitely go here again, or recommend it for a more casual and fun vibe. We WILL be back!
