Bull Pen BBQ and Tap House has been established with our Santa Clarita community at heart. Serving our community is one of our greatest honors. Bull Pen is owned and operated by Channan and David Wedemeyer, who have been living in Santa Clarita for over 25 years. We are both Registered Nurses that have been serving different aspects of Santa Clarita’s healthcare system. We support our community by providing food and serving at our local Bridge to Home Shelter, supporting our Santa Clarita Food Bank, as well as supporting other local efforts and events. Our goal is for this restaurant to reflect the community we live in and for our customers’ experience to reflect that goal.

The brisket arrives like it’s been through a long, honorable journey in the pit — smoky, tender, and sliced thick enough to remind you that patience still exists in this world.
The BBQ chicken is a sticky, glorious mess in the best possible way, lacquered in sauce and cooked just right so every bite lands somewhere between sweet, smoky, and mildly addictive.
Then there’s the mac and cheese, a dangerously creamy side dish that has no business being this good but somehow steals the spotlight anyway.
Add a proper pint of Guinness on tap and suddenly the whole thing feels less like lunch and more like a small but meaningful victory.
The service seals the deal — fast, friendly, and refreshingly human in a world of robotic takeout counters.
In short, Bull Pen BBQ isn’t trying to reinvent barbecue. They’re just doing it right, which these days feels like a minor miracle
Purchased thw Home Run, choice of 4 proteins 2 sides and texas toast. It was amazing. 2 barts, 3 ribs, pulled pork and brisket with baked beans and mac n cheese sides. Outstanding!
Their beef brisket is wonderfully succulent, tender, flavorful
Their tri-tip is also wonderfully succulent, tender, flavorful.
Y’all go try both and tell me your vote. I’m torn because I love both. Let me know your Vote so i can give 5 stars for food. I’m at 4 because I Can’t decide. I neeeed your help folks.

What I find disappointing is that several previous reviews echoed sentiments from my visit. Unfortunately, the pattern I saw in terms of the owner(s) response was akin to “We’re looking into this and take feedback seriously, and we will make changes.”
I wonder if the owner(s) have taken customers’ reviews seriously, and I say this because reviews from over two months ago reflect what I experienced, which consists of the following:
1) The brisket had no sauce, was relatively dry, and was closer to roast beef than brisket (I was VERY disappointed!). So much potential, but it was just horrible, i.e., no sauce, cool temperature. Who in the world likes cold meat? I DON’T!
2) Ordering a beer from my table was not possible, so I ordered it with my meal at the counter. This was VERY odd to me, so I just thought the place was understaffed. I was wrong: I saw about 6 people, but I only saw two people taking food to tables. It seems to me they would probably sell more beer if people could order it from their tables.
3) Overall, I was REALLY hoping I would enjoy this place because it’s close to where I live, and I have been looking for a spot that would be my regular go-to place. Unfortunately, unless the owner(s) address the issues noted above, as well as those in otehr reviews, they will not get my business again. This is VERY unfortunate because the place has so much potential!
4) I hope the owner(s) will actually pay attention to reviews, but most importantly ACT on those reviews instead of thanking peope for feedback and telling them you’re “looking into it.” Customers don’t want promises. They want action.

Great beer selection, and fresh as well. Unfortunately the food was just..ok. the baked beans were more a soup than anything that’s been inside an oven. The brisket and ribs came with 0 sauce, and were pretty bland. The Ribs were better than the brisket however. There is no BBQ sauce on the table, you must request it special and it comes in a tiny to go cup. And..as far as I know there was only 1 option.
If you are expecting a gourmet Famous Dave’s experience this is not the place to go. This is more a budget, come have some drinks with the boys and watch a game with some appetizers type place. If you get the BBQ remember to ask for sauce.
Also…the menu is too busy.
Will come back in a few months to try again as this place is new.
My family’s order (2 people) came to almost $60. We ordered at the counter and were given a table tag. It took 25 minutes for the cashier/bartender to pour the one beer that I ordered. My son was given a glass to get his own drink at the soda fountain.
After waiting 45 minutes, our food was brought to the table. The garlic butter on our order of garlic fries had already congealed, making most of the fries soggy. I ordered the special house chili with beans and brisket on top. The chili was lukewarm and bland. Instead of the brisket I ordered, the chili was topped with tri-tip.
I think that working with a much smaller food menu would enable the pit master/chef and kitchen staff to focus on making a few really good BBQ items that could easily and quickly get assembled and served.
With lots of games available for kids to play, this restaurant seems to market itself as a great place for families. However, you can’t have excessive wait times and poor quality food and achieve that objective.
