Sushi was delicious and fish was fresh! My boyfriend had the duck he said it was very good as well. We will be back.

Sampan literally gaslit us into believing the veggie chow mein has no noodles in it. We ordered veggie chow mein and got only veggies in the box. When we called to inquire what happened, they hung up twice and asked us to come down during the third attempt. When we went to the restaurant, they told us veggie chow mein doesn’t have any noodles in it. Two people from the restaurant very confidently said the same thing. “Mein” literally means noodles. The chow mein is listed under the “noodles” category on the menu. I can’t believe that instead of owning up to their mistake, they chose to straight up lie and gaslight their customer. Never ordering from them again.

First time here. The place was not very busy. We stood waiting to be seated, and someone behind what I think was the sushi bar motioned with his head for us to sit at a table. We were seated for about 10 minutes before anyone came over. The waitress was not in a terribly good mood. The food was very good. I liked the wonton soup and general tso chicken. There was a good portion, and had a nice zip to it. What i couldn’t understand was the group in the restaurant that thought it was ok for 2 of their younger children to literally run around and throw paper airplanes that landed wherever! Incredibly, none of the adults did anything to stop it nor did any of the staff! The food was good enough for me to go back and try again.

This place used to be one of the best Chinese-American restaurants in Delaware county. Now, I would say it’s only about on par with an average city counter restaurant on a good night.
Looking for an option for decent take out on a weeknight when you’re ending your day later than expected can be a challenge. My wife suggested Sampan, which seemed like a safe option.
She asked me to order a “big broth noodle bowl” which they corrected me and said it was a “deluxe wonton noodle bowl”. It ended up not being what she intended on ordering, but she said it was still acceptable.
Now, to the reason for the 1-star review. My order was the egg drop wonton soup. There wasn’t anything too bad about the broth (which admittedly is hard to screw up). I kid you not that the wontons in the soup tasted like bleach mixed with toilet water. I tried eating one and couldn’t even swallow the first bite. They had to be old and gone bad at least a day ago. You can read my other reviews posted about other restaurants: I am not known to be a super-picky eater and fairly judge the quality of the food I eat with perspective of the price and quality advertised. Saying that the food I was served was inedible is a terrible understatement and a disgrace for a restaurant that built up a reputation as Sampan has.
I will not be ordering food from here and think everyone reading this review deserves to know how far this restaurant–once voted top Chinese restaurant in Delaware county no more than 5 years ago–has fallen from grace. I sincerely hope someone working from the restaurant reaches out to me and apologizes for the disgrace that was served to me this evening.

We ordered three different entrees. We picked up our food and, upon arriving home, discovered only 2 of our entrees we in the bag. We called. They offered no apology. We returned to Sampan to pick up the food.

Had the eggplant with tofu and it was perfect! We also had some sushi and cocktails which were pretty decent but the drinks were a little pricey for being basic drinks. They had run out of a bunch of things when we were there and a lot of items we wanted to order were unavailable.

Ordered the curry chicken on Sat 9/16/23, too many onions (undercooked as well). The chicken was cooked nicely, but the sauce was thin and underwhelming.

Ordered sesame chicken, shrimp tempora, pan fried noodles, and white rice. The sesame chicken was chewy and the sauce was like gravy. Didn’t even end up eating it. The shrimp tempura tasted like batter and the pan fried rice was completely uncooked but burnt. Only thing that was edible was the white rice

Absolute disgrace and disgusting I ordered a sesame chicken with white rice and my partner ordered a general tso’s with white rice and it looked like dog food from what I hear from her it was a great establishment years ago but and hearing from that I was excited to try it but I bit into what I thought was sesame chicken tasted like a 5-day-old chicken nugget that had set sweet and sour sauce sprinkled on it indescribable I cannot believe that they even served me this food
