First time here and we were blown away! We received fantastic service from Avalon. She was knowledgeable of the menu, sincere and made us feel welcomed and well taken care of. The ambiance is lovely, and the kitchen is the star of the show- with the fire grill, oven, dry-aged beef, fish, and warm and friendly culinary talent at the helm. We started off with the crab cake and I guess we never had a properly prepared crab cake because this was a new level—no filler, just fresh crab meat (apparently this is the chef’s family recipe). It was served with a delicious salad (honestly, I would order this salad by itself!) with flavors that complemented the crab cake. The Parker House rolls are not to be missed. For entrees, I ordered the filet and my husband ordered the Wagyu strip. Both were delicious—the Wagyu had a slightly smoky flavor to it (both were generous portions–in fact, we had enough left over for dinner the next day). The beef marrow whipped potatoes served tableside were elevated and flavorful. Do try the coal-roasted carrots too!! For dessert, we had the Buckeye which was like a giant Rocher candy with peanut praline, peanut butter mousse, chocolate cookie crust and enrobed and chocolate and the Apple Tart served with caramel, cinnamon ice cream. I highly recommend visiting!!!

Food was delicious but the portions were so large. I got the delicious wood oven chicken and a side and I couldn’t finish either one. It would have been better to get about 1/2 of the portion, and had room for dessert instead of how large they were. The guy next to me at the bar said the same thing. I needed other people with me to finish the food.

We absolutely loved our meal at FYR. The service, food and atmosphere were awesome. The staff really went out of their way to make our experience amazing. Pricing is very reasonable for the quality of the food and drink.

Flew in Friday for a Saturday wedding that happened to fall on my better half’s Bday. Found Fyr online and saw they had a Chef’s Table experience. (Note, OpenTable only let me make a reservation for 1, so I did and then left a message via the app for the restaurant. Ian responded within a couple hours via the app, phone call and text to fix it.)

The service was nothing short of amazing. Drinks were well crafted and delicious. Jasmyn recommended the half chicken even though I’m not a fan of mole, but she said it was more savory and not at all sweet. It slapped y’all. All of the dishes we tried were amazing.

Ian called on the way in and inquired about whose birthday we were celebrating and make sure to have a card at our table. He took the time to share more about the chefs and their recipes. The whole team spoiled us.

Overall, the venue is a bit pricier than we typically choose, but the Fyr crew earned every bit of our bill. We’ll be back if we’re ever in town again.

Ian and Jasmyn, thanks for a wonderful experience and making our Bday cele special.

We came for dinner and got the empanada salteña (which I totally recommend), spicy tuna wonton tacos, and wood roasted oven mushrooms as appetizers. For our mains we got skirt steak which was very good, roasted salmon, and margarita pizza. The desserts were also very good and the smoked corn brulee was good but if you don’t like smoky flavors I recommend not getting it. Overall everything was very good, some of the food was a bit over salted, but the waiters were very nice. We couldn’t decide between the toasted coconut and the smoked corn brulee so they just got us both, on the house which was very nice of them.

I took my brother to FYR in the Short North for his birthday, and we had an amazing time. We ordered the tomahawk, the branzino (which was perfectly cooked), the potatoes, and the carrots. I also had a couple of drinks, and everything was exceptional.

The presentation of the food wasn’t just impressive—it actually made the whole experience even more memorable. We went on a weekday around 5:30 p.m., and it was quiet when we arrived, which allowed us to really enjoy the atmosphere.

One of the highlights was the lovely blonde manager who came over to check on us—she was extremely pleasant and made us feel so welcome. My brother told me it was the best day he’s ever had, and after eating at multiple places, I might have to agree with him.

Highly recommend FYR if you’re looking for a great dining experience in Columbus. This place is a gem.

FYR is still FYR—but it’s been completely reignited with the new chef, and it shows. From the moment I walked in, the energy felt refreshed and elevated while still keeping the soul of what made FYR great. The vibe was absolutely perfect. Ian, the manager, was fantastic and made the experience feel personal and welcoming. The king salmon is an absolute must and one of the best dishes I’ve had in Columbus. I’ve eaten at almost every restaurant in the Short North, and this will be my regular spot every time I’m in town.

I visited this place with a great friend. I give 1 star for the fact that it is a beautiful aesthetic, venue, and vibe. I give another star for our host, Alex, who was knowledgeable and honest about recommendations.

I’ve dined at many places in Columbus, and I’d say that for the price, the quality of food here was mediocre, at best. I understand the concept of charred vegetables: but serving a half head of cabbage that is literally burnt black is unacceptable. We asked the host (not Alex) if it was supposed to be burnt, and she looked at us like we were aliens, responding, “uh yeah … it’s charred.” The first couple layers were literally inedible. The remains 4-5 layers were okay, but the seasoning/flavor were pretty bland.

The potatoes were excellent. The drinks were mid range strong (5/10) for the quantity and price. The roasted chicken was super dry, but had potential in terms of flavor if it wasn’t cooked so long. The salmon had a pretty good taste, but I’ve had better for less $$.

I did appreciate the chef and manager visiting our table to check on us, that was personable.

Overall, I would have rather had spent $200+ at J. Alexander’s or Polaris Grill. Beautiful location (also plan to arrive early for busy street parking or expensive valet service), but I was not overly impressed.

Brunch at FYR in the Short North was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we rolled in, we were greeted with warmth, attentiveness, and a level of service that truly elevated the experience. Ian welcomed us with effortless charm, Mykel took care of our table like a seasoned pro, and manager Ryan made us feel genuinely valued – topping it off with a visit from the chef himself.

Let’s talk food. FYR’s Mother’s Day Brunch was a masterclass in upscale comfort. Highlights? Too many to count, but let me try:

• Katsu Chicken & Waffles from “The Brunch Corner” blew my mind – crispy, tender chicken paired with miso maple syrup and spicy kewpie mayo. An unexpected and unforgettable twist on a classic.
• The Sixty South Salmon with Miso Glaze was buttery, rich, and cooked to perfection.
• The Wagyu Tenderloin was perfectly medium rare with a velvety texture that melted in your mouth.

And the mimosas? Even those were the right ratio of bubbles to juice – keeping the vibe celebratory but classy.

Every station – from the sushi and oysters at the Seafood Station to the bone marrow whipped potatoes at the Hot Table – offered something thoughtfully curated and flawlessly executed.

Whether it’s a special occasion or you’re just looking to treat yourself, FYR doesn’t miss. The atmosphere, the menu, the staff – every detail is dialed in. I’d return in a heartbeat, and I’ll be watching for whatever event they host next. This is the kind of place you remember.

Went here for an anniversary dinner and the vibes were immaculate! The food was really good as well, though the portions could be a bit bigger on the sides.

Either way everything we ordered was great! We got the roasted carrots, papas, roasted cauliflower for our sides and got the lamb shank & skirt steak for our entrees
