Menu was way to big, 10 types of fajitas. Service was poor, they ask us to sit anywhere but didn’t give us a menu to look at. Prices seem a little to high for Mexican probably tourist prices. The food was better than I expected. The taco salad had good flavor. I added that spice salsa made it better. The salsa bar was $4.50 not worth it. Overall I would be back.

The food here was fantastic. The chips and salsa they put out after you’re seated were great. The chips were light and crispy and the salsa was home made.
I had the beef chimichanga and it was amazing. The fried burrito, rice, and refried beans. It was a large plate of food and I scarfed it down.

Their salsa and chips were great. I one visit I had a good fajita salad for dinner. The fajita part lacked a little punch. The ingredients were fresh and well put together. Churo Pollo is also a good meal. My last visit I had the salad Azteca with chicken. Very filling and well put together. Staff is always friendly.

Really fun and colorful atmosphere! The food is amazing and the portions are huge! Worth the drive! Who would have thought you can get an amazing and delicious breakfast at a Mexican restaurant?? This location serves breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. The skillets are worth the drive and absolutely puts other breakfast places to shame. Who needs IHoP when you can get an amazing breakfast at El Toro Loco! Their regular lunch and dinner menu offers some of the best Mexican food you’re gonna get in Southern Illinois!

This is an excellent Mexican restaurant. I had two problems with my experience there on February 5th, 2026, which is why I’m rating it four stars instead of five. First of all, it’s hard to find and it was very cold that night. I don’t have a vehicle so I had to walk from the local Walgreens to El Toro Loco and despite using GPS, I still had a hard time finding it.
The second reason that I bought three tacos which are on sale for $3.50 a piece and (I believe) a Diet Coke. Yet when I went to pay the new cashier told me the bill was close to $20! When I told her that was wrong and that they were the special of the day, she had to wave over the only waitress who was at the far end of the restaurant. At that point my Uber driver Justin had just pulled up and was waiting in the streets because there’s no parking lot in front of the store. He is fortunately a patient man and waited for me anyways.
PS: The tacos were excellent and filled with lots of beef.

This restaurant blew my mind. Delicious Mexican food, some of the best I’ve ever had! Staff is friendly, large portions for a reasonable price, and nice atmosphere with lots of art and music. 10/10 you NEED to visit El Toro Loco!!

When we are in Metropolis this is one of our must stop places. The staff is absolutely wonderful and the food is terrific! The street tacos are incredible. This latest visit we discoved that anything ordered with seafood in it and you will not be disappointed, it is so fresh and large! The shrimp and scallops were amazing. Definitely highly reccomend El Toror Loco.

Had a quick stop in town and stopped for a nice dinner, we got there early at 5pm and were the only people in the place. Normally that is a bad sign, well just 5:30 the place was packed and we were enjoying an amazing dinner. I like hot food, most places lighten the burn to accommodate people but I asked for HOT and they provided. Over all 5* for service and food and environment!

What a great addition to Downtown Metropolis! Restaurant is clean and staff is friendly. I was seated promptly and my order taken. The menu has lots of options, great variety. The salsa was a bit bland for my taste (I like a tomato sauce base) but my meal was excellent! Portions were large, chips were fresh and had good flavor.

What a fantastic meal! Was passing through and was very impressed by the quality and amount of food for the price. The margaritas were fantastic and the service was super friendly and very quick. If I could give 8 stars I would!
