Saw this place on Yelp and we opted to try it for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Some people were coming out as we were coming in. Thought this place would be empty considering it has almost no curb appeal, but nope…they had a steady stream of customers the whole time we were there.
Wife and I ordered two 1/2 cheeseburgers, one with chili and one without. Now I know why it’s “Chili Coast Burger”. For some reason I thought it was green chili, but nope it’s no-beans chili. My mother got the Patty Melt, but they made her a Tuna Melt by mistake. We didn’t mention anything because the Tuna Melt was actually very good!
In my opinion, the burgers are better without the chili. I felt like it was under seasoned. Burger meat too. But the burger without chili was good, so grab a salt shaker on the way to your table.
Things to note: you order at the front. Pay cash and throw money into the big tip jar, if you feel like it. They have a few beers on tap and the beers are COLD. Check out the drink menu I attached. A 16oz pint is $8.25, while a 25oz mug is only $9.85. So if you have a beer, definitely get the mug. Great deal. Domestics are even cheaper.
There are three smallish TVs, but only one was tuned into anything. One looked it was not working. Don’t come here expecting to watch the game.
Also note: there is no bathroom. Maybe you can use the one in the back of the kitchen but I did not see any bathrooms and it’s not that big of a place. There is a Dunkin’ Donuts right next door and they do have bathrooms.
The fries are huge and can easily feed 3-4 people. The Cajun fries were outstanding.
The owner, a small Asian woman, definitely has a spirited personality and may rub you the wrong way, but try to give her a little latitude. She is the only one working the front.
Overall I would come back and adjust what I order: get the bigger beer, split the fries, hold the chili and make sure you get a receipt. Also, try splitting a Tuna Melt…it’s huge!

Delicious food and super fresh, it’s consistently great and always worth the premium price. It’s comparable to a tom’s in LA or those family owned diners. It’s made with love and tastes amazing until the last bite.
Family owned and operated, they are great people who are always happy to provide great service. Been coming here since a kid, dine in experience is pleasant as they have sports on usually but I tend to order takeout nowadays.

I haven’t been to Chili Coast Burgers in over a decade. College, marriage, kids, the time flies. That first bite this evening was like taking a step back to Little League. The same quality, quantity, everything was immaculate.
Mine and my wife’s burger was PERFECT the onion rings were top notch, the price was incredibly reasonable.
With confidence I can say that Chili Coast Burgers has not changed since I was a teen and that is the highest compliment I can imagine, in a world where every other place has seen quality tank.
We will be back, probably soon. Everyone in Vista needs to wake up and head on over, there is a reason they are still around, you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Chili coast has been here for years very good and huge burgers. It’s definitely worth the money, this place feels very welcoming and warm definitely recommend this place if you have an appetite. Also one side of fries feeds like 3 people lol

Dark and dreary, Burger was average at best, fries were at least fresh cut, so that was good. Server was friendly. For the money and quality, probably won’t return. Over $20 for 1/2 lbs cheeseburger, 1/2 order of fries (very large) and a fountain drink. Their regular order of fries and ‘1/2 order of fries” are only $0.50 difference, but even the 1/2 order is far too much for one person… Reduce the price on the 1/2 order and dramatically cut the price, you are doing nothing more than creating immense food waste.

I am a positive person, the fries and the ranch were great. But if you have the word “burger” in the name of your restaurant, it better be great burger meat. Just saying. It was like a low grade frozen patty. My husband’s was cooked like a piece of shoe leather. Out dated and a bit greasy feeling. We will not be back. I hope it was just a bad day.

This is a Super Burger in Vista, and maybe even San Diego. I can’t believe this place has been here for over 22 years, and I have driven by it so many times. This is an absolute local pearl!

Awesome affordable burgers! I’ve eaten here twice so far and it’s quickly become one of my go to burger places. The fried mushrooms are also a great pick. They offer a pretty diverse selection ranging from breakfast food, burritos, burgers, subs/sandwiches, to even some asian food as part of their daily deals. Really recommend this place if you’re in the mood for some burgers. I’m excited to try out some of their other food in future orders. Definitely try this place out!
