Great food, simply served, right from Chef Gregory’s kitchen.

I took my family here for Father’s Day 2025, and it was the perfect brunch! I absolutely loved the reduction of the Croq Au Vin, and the duck was cooked and seasoned perfectly.
The French onion soup was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the beef bourguignon was also great! The beef was very tender and moist.
Moreover, the chef was very friendly and was very accommodating to the customers

So let me clarify I have one star because of the service from the kitchen and the food. Our waitress was nice and very apologetic. It is not the waitress’s fault at all. But the wait time and the way the duck were cooked, its worst than my kid could cook the duck. Which the duck was the most expensive dish on the menu, totally not worth it. Also on the menu was Friday’s special was sea bass, but the waitress came back twice offering Chilean sea bass instead of regular sea bass cuz they ran out, which were okay with us. Then the waiter came back again and apologized for running out of Chilean sea bass and offered sword fish steak. Which we switched to sea scallops instead, when the food came, that was a disappointment too. Worst part of the dinner which we almost walked out was because of two other parties came way way after us and gotten their main dishes 20 mins before us. We waited over 45 mins for our main dishes and watching other two parties food came before ours just left the bad taste in our mouth. The duckling dish was a total disaster, the duck breast was chewy and duck confit was deep fried to the oblivion. I had visited to many French restaurants before and this was not to a regular French standards. 4 stars for the atmosphere was because of the live piano playing. Even the table next to us, they were disappointed coming from VA while their dishes were late too. If the owner reads this, they should manage their kitchen staff and chefs better. Only the dessert earned one star, I guess our nice waitress felt so bad for us that she kept apologizing, I told her it’s not her fault at all, but the chefs needs to be responsible for this bad meal during Friday prime time! If you ask me to visit again? I wouldn’t even want to if they offered free meals. Check out the duck dish picture, it was over fried, never had duck breast this chewy ever. The Scallops were drowned in watery mash potatoes, while it was supposed to be whipped potatoes. Appetizers were avg at best and for 14 bucks for 7 mussels with 2 dead mussels, definitely not worth it.
10/22/25: Replying back to Chef Gregory. Typically I am very easy going on rating wise, and just being honest on my experiences that night. Therefore, if your services lives up to par, I am 100% sure your restaurant will not get these poor reviews. It has to suck so bad for me to give this low of rating. You can check out all my reviews and unfortunately your kitchen dropped the ball. If you were the chef on duty that night, all I can say is you need to do better. Thank you for the reply and good luck on your restaurant.

Worst dining experience ever! Missing items on the menu. Food was awful! Cold, dry and old French fries. Dry and hard steaks. Tasteless bœuf bourguignon and coq au vin. We were a party of 8 and only 2 people found the food edible. There was only 3 employees: the host, the chef and the server who didn’t even offer to serve us drinks. It was so bad, We had to cut the birthday party short. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

This place has such a charming and antique atmosphere—it felt like stepping into a cozy European bistro. We gathered here to celebrate a birthday, and since we were the very first guests of the day, the restaurant surprised us with complimentary champagne. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and it made us feel so special.
The food was absolutely delicious, from the beautifully cooked steak with crispy fries to the rich and comforting French onion soup. The setting was warm and inviting, with elegant décor and a touch of old-world charm that made our celebration feel extra memorable.
Even though it took us more than an hour to get here from home, the whole journey was filled with excitement, and the ride back was just as happy. It truly turned out to be one of those days that you carry in your heart for a long time—a joyful, unforgettable birthday celebration.

Pretty disappointed in this place. I had high hopes for something different and what we got was salty take on the classic dishes. The steak we got was overly salted and the beef bourginion just was missing that deep red wine flavor. On the bright side their bread service was really tasty and the head chef was a cool amicable guy who probably deserves better.

I have been a few times now. Twice in the main dining room several times in the back bar/speakeasy. Every visit has been a joy both in the food and the atmosphere. The staff is attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The food has always been fantastic. The beef bourgeon and mussels are amazing. The open face hamburger (I don’t remember what it was listed as on the menu) was heavenly. The best hamburger I have ever had. The sauce tempted me to lick my plate. The appetizers and drinks at the back bar are always delicious and well made. I remain amazed to find such an excellent high class restaurant next to the former Shoppers Food Warehouse. We are lucky to have them nearby.

We tried Laperaux for the first time as something new for my Wife’s birthday. We drove about 40 minutes from the Frederick area and were not disappointed. I got the octopus as my starter it was superb; it’s something I always like to try when it’s available and this was one of the best I’ve had! The steak frite was also wonderful. It was perfectly cooked to my preference (med-rare) and the fries were great. My wife got the onion soup and beef bourgeon and she loved both.
Service was friendly and attentive. On our way out, Chef Gregory asked us how our meals were and and we could tell how passionate he is from watching him in the kitchen as we ate.
We will be back!

This French bistro is a hidden gem in the Germantown area. On our visit, we tried many dishes, and all of them were delicious. We especially enjoyed charred octopus, escargot, tuna carpaccio, prime rib, and duck breast; chocolate mousse for dessert was also really good. Our waiter, Kathryn, was fantastic and provided good suggestions, and the overall atmosphere of the place was charming. The only minor thing that bothered us was a powerful fan above the table, so I guess having a jacket or something would be a good idea.

First time visiting this restaurant. We came for a Sunday brunch. Very casual, relaxed and friendly atmosphere but the food and service are top quality. The chef and the server were very friendly. Love that they have an open kitchen. All the dishes we ordered were typical French menu items you can get anywhere but they were all probably the best we’ve had. Egg Benedict had crispy bread, perfect hollandaise sauce and egg, without being a soggy mess like in some restaurants. Escargot was prepared perfectly, soft, flavorful but not overpowering. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I have been here twice and we’re really happy with our food both times. Last time I got the beet and spinach appetizer, which was delicious, and steak frites. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked to the requested temperature. We love that there is a locally-owned restaurant so close to home – otherwise we’re surrounded by chains. The staff and chef were very friendly and accommodating.
