I ate here about a week ago while visiting the area and when I saw the building, I did not expect much. I just had a basic hamburger and I was not particularly hungry when I ate it, so I did not expect much. To my surprise I really enjoyed my hamburger. The woman in command of the grill should be given a raise. She knows what she’s doing. What’s more is the service in this place, typical of most restaurants in this area of North Carolina operated by locals, is exceptionally polite. The ambiance is very basic, so, if your expecting to eat in a plush or edgy environment, go elsewhere. If you want a delicious hamburger, eat here.

Went here for the first time today and it was everything I needed. Fair prices, good food, comfy atmosphere, friendly workers, and clean bathrooms! It feels like this place just got a recent facelift but since it was my first time I would not know. It was very clean and has cute decorations and also had some really nice outdoor seating.
My only complaint is that their coffee was not good, it was very watery and just not what I was hoping for from a diner. Definitely worth stopping here during your trip to Jefferson for breakfast or lunch!

Philly Cheese Steak and the onion rings were delicious. My son said the cheese burger and fries were great. Food was hot and service was fast. Great place for lunch, have to try it for breakfast!

Hometown Diner is a GREAT spot for breakfast or lunch. The food is GOOD, portions are generous, prices are excellent, and it’s clean! And the bathrooms are clean! I’m trying to finish my two egg omelet with bacon and cheese. It was huge! REAL bacon, cooked on the flattop . . . not premade, skinny bacon. Swing by now (mid-September) and see the outdoor dining and surrounding area which is festooned with pumpkins, mums, corn stalks, wagon wheels . . . and I understand there may be a scarecrow comin’. Welcome to fall the mountains. Thank you, Hometown Diner ladies! We appreciate you!

The smith Burger’s aren’t really like the smith, Smith burgers was but with that being said there stay pretty good though for what they are! And not bad prices 2 for $5.00!
