The people working there were friendly and attentive. Even when it felt like the place got a little busy, service stayed smooth and easygoing — I never felt rushed or ignored, which made the visit all the more comfortable.
What stood out most: 1804 really delivers on “good for the vibe.” It doesn’t try to be fancy or pretentious. Instead, it’s down‑to‑earth, unpretentious, and honest — which gave me the sense that this is a place built for real people, not showy dinners. For what I got (ambience, service, and a solid night out), I felt like it was worth it.
It’s not the kind of spot you pick if you want something ultra‑elegant or “fancy date” style. But if I’m looking for something easygoing — maybe a casual dinner, a relaxed hangout, or a laid‑back night out — 1804 hits the sweet spot. I left feeling content, relaxed, and already thinking I’d go back next time I’m in the mood for exactly that.
PRO: Being from Miami, it’s hard to find authentic Haitian food here, but I was happy to have finally found this place because the food is good (although a bit expensive).
CON: the wait time, which is typical for Haitian restaurants. I’ve tried calling ahead of time on several occasions, but no one ever answers the phone. My first time there, I went inside after unsuccessfully reaching someone, and the young lady had the phone right in front of her, smh. I was a bit upset but wanted to try the food, so I ordered then left to run some errands before heading back to pick up the food. The other times, I just ordered via Doordash.
About a week ago, I was really craving fried fish and wanted to try it. I tried calling 3 times to see if I could order ahead of time, but no one answered. That was the last straw for me because ordering via the food apps gets pretty expensive, and I’m a new mom, so I wanted to pick it up before going to get my baby from the sitter. It’s unfortunate, but I will no longer attempt to visit this restaurant. I ended up ordering fish at a Jamaican restaurant near my house.
As a haitian, I am truly disappointed. The food was ok at best. Pikliz, griot, diri kole is what I ordered as well as a smoked salmon patty. The groit was very dry, the rice and pikliz was ok. Soda from a can. No haitian kola. The patty wasn’t the traditional flaky patty. It was fried hard and the salmon was mixed with chicken and a hard boiled egg. If you’re from up north or the Miami Ft Lauderdale area then you know what I’m talking about, this is a violation. What are we doing?!?!
The waitress is what made my experience go from ok to never again. She was clueless about the haitian offerings and was more concerned with her hookah customers. Making a hookah for a customer, smoking it, wiping the mouthpiece with your hand, then handing it to the customer is absolutely disgusting. No checkin. After receiving togo boxes we sat there waiting for 20 minutes before finally getting her attention for the check.
Worst of all, finishing my visit with automatic gratuity for two people with an attitude is not ok. How do you have your customers waiting an excessive amount of time and YOU have an attitude? Has me wondering if that’s the reason she was acting this way. She was getting paid regardless of her service or lack thereof in my experience.
It definitely leans Americanized Haitian food. The ambiance is what brings you in but, unfortunately, the food and service will keep us away. This is not representative of my people or our amazing food.
: The pizzas, I had the Oxtail and Griot Pizza. The flavor on both were very good. Due to size of venue performances are more intimate. They had a Dope live event!
: The toppings were the same on both pizzas, as a result they taste too similar. Skimpy on the meat. Barely had Griot on it. The drinks weren’t that strong. Everything is pricey.
: The inside was small, not very much seating. The parking area is very small as well. For large events there is nowhere to park. Hopefully the neighboring lot allows there patrons to park there.
I went for the Grand opening, they have time to get the kinks out. Looking forward to going back on a regular day.
Update: Went back today and redeemed my free wing coupon and purchased a Smoked Herring Haitian Patties with boiled egg. The patty was so good! Wings were kinda big, I prefer them extra crispy. The fries were tasty, didn’t need ketchup or anything.
