At our Posen, IL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Really disappointed in what I got. The portion size is terrible. I will definitely not be back at all. Was not pleased. They use to give more for the price but now they give you like a snack bag. I just can’t believe I paid the price I paid for what I got.

Every time I come the food and fish is always fresh. I’ve had one issue with the potato being brown all the inside which was weird and it tasted funny but other than that the broccoli is good the coleslaw was good which I barely eat coleslaw. And everything is always like I say fresh. I love the spicy cod. Just in all around good experience and the customer service is on point The guys are very friendly

I’ve been coming to this location since they opened the portions were always enough to fulfill you, however now things have changed. I am very disappointed in how they charge the same price for less food. It’s as if they took what used to be one big fish and cut them 3 ways making the portion the size of a cheese stick and serve that as a Whole meal. I won’t be returning it’s not worth $15 until they bring the original sizes back.

This was the worst experience I’ve had in years at any restaurant! To start, the customer service was horrible! The guy working the drive thru was rude and impatient because I didn’t order right away and mind you, I was the only customer at the restaurant! I could barely read the menu due to it being blurry and another menu on the reverse side of it making it appear like scrambled letters and numbers. It was 8:25p and because I took 4-5 minutes to order, he was threatening to close right then when they close at 9p. I pulled up to the window after ordering and explained that it took me so long to order because it was extremely hard to read the menu. He had no response and then just stated the total. He then asked did I want any sauces and I told him cocktail, tarter, and hot sauces. When the food came, I checked the bag for sauces and there was one tarter, one cocktail, and 2 thin Louisiana hot sauce packs for two meals. I asked for another cocktail and tarter sauce and he raised his voice at me saying he gave them to me already. I then explained that there are two meals and that is why. I then said if it’s that big of a deal, I can pay for the sauces. Then he angrily walked to the cooler and grabbed the sauces and lightly slammed them in my hand. Outside of that, the food is different along with the portions! The fish was mushy, greasy, and the batter on it was chewy. The breaded okra, chicken, and shrimp were good. The baked potato was sweet! The hushpuppies were hard and bland. The portions seemed to be half the size of what they previously were. The taste of the fish and batter were different as well. I will not be returning to this Captain D’s. I will wait until I’m in the south.

This was my first time here, I had a taste for some fish. I got the 3 piece catfish meal with coleslaw and green beans. I’m sorry, but none of it was good to me. I’m not sure what kind of fish that was, but I don’t think it was catfish. I couldn’t eat it.

I have been a consumer of Captain D’s for over 20 years. I’m not sure what changes have been made but the portions are absolutely pathetic now. It seems like the pieces of batters fish are HALF the size they used to be. For $15+, this is sad. I am definitely done with this franchise now.
