Great service and good food. The people that work here are always friendly. I just moved to Hillsville and this is already one of my favorite places to eat.

I ordered a sandwich with fries. My partner ordered a burger no fries. When food came out my sandwich was on the tiniest plate, his was on large plate with my fries. My plate had no room to put fries on. I like ketchup on fries he doesn’t. I was not about to reach across table to eat my fries off his plate. I was not going to ruin his food by putting ketchup on his plate. They must pay attention to detail.

You know a restaurant is good when the parking lot is 2/3rds full mid-afternoon on a weekday & most patrons are locals. Food was freshly cooked, hot (& not from a heat lamp). Menu varied enough for carnivore or vegetarian. Potato wedges tasty enough w/o ketchup. Paid in cash – often simpler if away from urban areas, plus saves small businesses merchant’s fees. Seemed to make everyone happier.

Found this place just searching for a local place. So glad we did. It felt like a hometown place. Everyone there from the staff to the people eating were friendly. Our food was great from the burger n onion rings to the country fried steak. The hush puppies and fried okra were amazing and those potatoes I could eat all day.

Two words to describe the food here… Home Cooking. Potatoes smoothered in gravy. Tender pork chops. Pies and cakes that are home made. The place was clean and seemed very busy for a weekday. Our waitress was great, and the food was great.

Petsitting in the area and ate here twice – lunch and breakfast. Tasty food, big portions, reasonable prices, friendly service.
Lunch was chicken fried steak with the white sausage gravy, potato salad, and really good fried okra. Breakfast was a western omelet and a biscuit.

Picked up an order. The people there were really friendly. Got back to the rented cabin, unloaded the car, and by the time we got to eat, the food was still nice and hot! Everybody enjoyed their dinner and there are plenty of leftovers for lunch today! This place is a definite “go again”.

It’s a road-side country restaurant, and the dining area has a section that could be de-cluttered a bit, but if you passed this place up because of that, you’d miss a delicious meal! We couldn’t eat all that showed up on our plates. It was hot (piping hot!) and well seasoned. My fried okra looked like it was cut and breaded at the restaurant – if it was frozen from a bag, I need to find out the brand. Every bite was tender and crispy. Country fried stead was crispy, tender and so good! Desserts are homemade and a lot of variety. Staff and patrons were all friendly. We live 3 hours away, but if we’re ever back in this area, we’ll come back to Crooked Oak.

My father couldn’t stop praising the fried apples! “Buttery, not too sweet, not too salty.”
Went here with my family, and everyone was very kind and happy to help us. While some of what we ordered was a bit too bland or wet, we greatly enjoyed the fried flounder, rolls, grilled chicken, popcorn shrimp, and of course the fried apples. Many delicious desserts to choose from, too!
We had an awesome time and would definitely recommend you stop by if you’re in town!
