Pattternz is such a unique dining experience. It’s a Syrian restaurant, so even though some of the dishes sound like what you might find at your typical Sterling Heights Middle Eastern restaurant, the flavors here are different and absolutely worth a try. For example, the garlic is generally dialed down in comparison and other spices are added, giving really distinct flavors that you can’t find anywhere else. My wife and I come here just about every week because it’s so addictive. In addition, you’ll find a lot of dishes that you can’t find anywhere else. For appetizers, we’re addicted to Mutabel, which is an eggplant dip sort of similar to baba ghanoush, and it’s so good that we can never pass it up. Their lentil soup is absolutely delicious and again tastes different than any other lentil soup I’ve had. It has a very rich broth, possibly flavored with some lamb and is just super tasty. We love their dinner plates which come with very flavorful rice (or fries) and a small salad and usually some hummous. Everything we’ve tried here tastes like it’s made with love and care, sort of like a homemade meal made by your favorite grandma. At the same time, it’s very elevated and sophisticated. The service is always top notch too. We absolutely love this place.

Last night I was hungry but I needed something fulfilling and affordable. When I remembered this spot I thought about how good it was the first time I had it. I got the Chicken Shawarma Salad & the Kunafah Bun. The salad and chicken is so flavorful, which reflects the exact feeling I had my first visit. I’m not typically one for salads, but honestly this place is like magic to me. I’ve always wanted to try a Kunafah Bun and this definitely hit the spot, I can only imagine how good one is fresh and right off the heat. All for a little over $20 is absolutely worth it! This location being so close by is a blessing, and the food it has supplied me with is even more so a blessing. Thank you Pattternz! ❤️

We have been in Detroit for 10 days and have already eaten here twice! Patternz is truly delicious, everything we have tried is out of this world and clearly made by practiced expert cooks. My husband and I order our own dishes, however it is all so tasty, we just put everything on the table and eat reaching over eachother to try the next taste. Below is what we have ordered so far and will surely eat again.
Lentil Soup: the richest smelling velvety soup of lamb broth, perfect texture lentils and balanced spices. So comforting.
Shish Barak: warm delicate thinned yogurt soup with perfect little dumplings stuffed to the brim with minced spiced beef.
Fattet Lamb: Decadent and delicious skin on bone in lamb piece cooked until so tender it can be eaten without a knife, sitting in a bed of small tender sheets pasta mixed into smooth garlicky spiced yogurt, drizzled with delicious olive oil and topped with blanched slivered toasted almonds and crispy wafer like fried pita shreds. (We have had this dish with and without meat…it’s incredible both ways)
Horak Isbao: this dish is so surprising and delicious, made of pearly lentils and small perfectly cooked pasta sheets with a deep sweet sour flavor of pomegranate and tamarind topped with crispy fried onions and fried flat bread shreds.
Foul Medames: toothsome slightly crushed fava beans in a glug of delicate olive oil topped with fresh crushed garlic and the finest shavings of parsley. The perfect warm bite to have with their flat bread triangles.
Flat bread: soft and fresh with char crispy bits on top and cut to the perfect size for scooping up your foul medames or eggplant mutabal.
Eggplant mutabal: smoky, creamy, thick and cool eggplant with nutty deep tahini and a lift of fresh lemon juice and olive oil.
Mixed pickled vegetables: juicy salty turnip and crispy green small sliced cucumber.
Rice: mixed with short vermicelli and fluffy like a cloud slicked with creamy butter and perfectly salted and nutty. We could’ve eaten the rice all by itself it was so good.

Very authentic and delicious. I think it is the best Syrian food in Michigan, just like the food I had in Damascus years ago. The owner is so friendly, btw.

I would highly recommended! Everything was sooo good! Flavor was great, seasoning was excellent. We just wanted to keep eating and eating even though we were stuffed. We tried the Muhammara, the beef and cheese Berak, Musakhan, Safeeha Shami, and the Okra & Rice with Lamb. We topped it off with the Arabic Ice cream that was rolled in pistachios and had just the right hint of rose water behind it. I was going to name the standout dishes but all really did stand out. I’m so glad we found this place as we had never tried Syrian food and we will definitely be back to sample more of the menu.

Highly recommend! I stopped in for lunch. The place is extremely clean! I had a falafel sandwich and hummus. Both were very delicious. The owner was a very kind man and service was excellent. I will be back!

Terrible experience! We were charged $3 per person just to sit, even though we only ordered coffee and tea. The Turkish coffee was $10, bitter, and full of grounds at the bottom. Feels like made-up rules to rip off customers. As a Mediterranean food lover who has lived in Greece, I can confidently say this place is not worth your time or money.

Asked for no pickles but I guess they didn’t listen to my order. $9 for 6 tiny falafels. Order took too long to be ready. Not a good experience for me.

I think there should be water when you first sit down. The waiter (I presume the owner) never gave us any. Also. why was there stale bread in zip lock bags? The bread should be fresh and there was also some crusty dried up bread in a plastic box which was odd for the hummus. We were talked into getting lemonade, which was good, but the food portions were rather small and needed more seasoning. I’m assuming the wife is cooking in the kitchen but perhaps get more help and concentrate on portion size and the bread and water. The dishes aren’t cheap so you should get what you pay for.

We enjoy trying new food so we decided to try Patternz. We had a wonderful meal and the restaurant is clean and the owner is very nice. I would definitely recommend trying their food. We had the chicken shawarma and beef shawarma as well as the berak. When were in the area we will definitely visit again.
