Indianapolis native, here. I just moved from Indiana to Pittsburgh and I was missing steak and shake bad. I drove an hour away to this location and I was not disappointed. It is a little different than what I’m used to, but it was still very very yummy! Also be careful getting into the drive-through… I don’t know why they set it up that way, but it’s like extremely dangerous low-key lol.

Atmosphere- 2 stars- new location in Morgantown WV. Kind of a bad spot for a business. Located on a small parcel of land off a busy road with no traffic signals. Restaurant is fairly clean however the bathrooms need some attention. Several employees sitting outside smoking which is disgusting.
Service- 3 stars- this is a self serve kiosk location at least in was on the day I visited. You order one of the touch screens and you are given an order number. They will call your name when ready. I had ordered a water but it wasn’t with my order I had to track an employee to get it.
Food- 4 stars- I had Double Steak cheeseburger with chili cheese fries. I thought it was a good burger for a fast food place. The chili was very good. The fries are shoestring style fries. I would go again for a quick burger.

After seeing Steak ‘n Shake publicly affirm their commitment to honoring history—unlike some places that seem more focused on erasing it (looking at you, Cracker Barrel)—I wanted to support them. I checked where the nearest one was to Keyser, WV, and found the Morgantown location in Star City.
My wife loves stopping at Steak ‘n Shake when we travel, so it wasn’t hard to talk her into it. We both had the classic Steakburger meals with tallow fries, and I’ve got to say—RFK Jr. was right—tallow does taste better, and it’s better for you.
Food was excellent, the service was solid, and if you’re anywhere near Morgantown, it’s worth the stop.

What a joke!! To begin with, just getting into the lot proved challenging! I had never had food from this chain and thought I would give it a try. Big mistake! There were 2 cars ahead of me in the drive thru and both of the cars had to sit there about 8 minutes before their orders were taken. When it was finally my turn, I got to sit and “take a look” at their extremely LIMITED menu. And who puts just ketchup and onions on a burger. Got my order, pulled around back. I was really looking forward to the beef tallow fries. They were half cold. The “burger”….bun was stale, burger was cold and dry. Just don’t.

There’s not very much that I can say positive about my experience at this Steak n’ Shake location.
Starting off with the parking lot/drive thru area, extremely too small would be an understatement. If there’s a line at the drive thru, no one can get by to get out. The building itself, extremely too small! The day I was there it was standing room only. With both of these issues alone, I don’t see how this place passed inspection to even open!!
Going inside, as I mentioned before, that day the restaurant was extremely crowded, there was garbage all over the floor, most of the tables needed wiped down but people were sitting at them anyway, it was standing room only at that point. I ordered at one of the self serve kiosks. It took about 25 minutes to get my food and no one told me the milkshake machines were not working so I had to see the manager to get my money back. Their number/order system isn’t in any kind of order, you just kind of hope any pray the next order an attendant is bringing is yours.
Food tasted okay for greasy, salty “fast food” but wasn’t happy that I wasn’t able to get my milkshake. It took about 15 minutes to leave the parking lot. I’m sure they will get better over time, once they can get an adequately trained staff, but I think I will just stick to Sonic if I want a good milkshake and keep my sanity!

I made it to our Steak ‘n Shake! The Double Steakburger Double Cheese was good. The gentleman who helped me find the drive-thru was very helpful and nice.
The burgers did take a while to make though. I understand the burgers take a little more time than normal fast food but it did take a little longer than I’d like.
I don’t think it’ll be a frequent stop but I wish the location the best!

The food was cold and our order was incorrect. I also noticed a staff member preparing food without gloves, which was concerning. I’ve been to other S&S locations and have never had a poor experience, so this was disappointing. The atmosphere was nice and both the restaurant and bathrooms were fairly clean, but unfortunately the food itself was dissatisfying.

SnS was good. Smashed cheese burger with skinny fries and good coke. Chili was OK (bean heavy and not great). Traffic was crazy. Even had police watching traffic and person directing. The Secret is to dine inside. Park and go inside and order on kiosk. I’m eating in 20 minutes after getting there. Drive through takes a long time.

I have been to this establishment two times. Once in the beginning when they first opened , and Once the other day. I am not one to write bad reviews , however, this place deserves it. When I first came to Steak ‘n Shake back around opening time, the place was filthy, Slow, and overall disgusting. Although staff was pleasant and dressed accordingly. I CANNOT say this about my latest visit. The place was a nightmare! Lobby was filthy, Nothing was restocked in the lobby and it reeked. The bathrooms were atrocious and had no toilet paper in the woman’s room! The place wasn’t packed and they had no urgency to clean the bathrooms. The staff was very unpleasant and seemed annoyed. They were dressed in casual clothing, nothing that should be worn while working. Some of the staff, although dressed accordingly was covered in filth! Needless to say I will NOT be going back here again. Not sure why management isn’t taking this seriously. VERY disappointed in this place , especially since it’s a new building! Should be clean and functional! Please get it together!
