Reviews
On the plus side, I liked that you can build your bowl on a digital screen instead of talking to a cashier. But the downside is, when there’s a line behind you, it feels like you’re being rushed to order, and you don’t really get the chance to look through the options properly. So yeah, pros and cons.
As for the food—my bowl came out with the rice basically clumped into one giant sticky ball on one side of the dish. It wasn’t spread out at all. I had to break chunks off with a fork and eat it like meat, which really killed the experience for me. I was expecting loose rice I could mix with everything else, but it just didn’t happen. Tried with chopsticks, then with a fork—no luck.
Another thing: the toppings, like masago, pickled onion or radish (don’t remember exactly), were all buried at the bottom instead of being on top, like you usually see. So I had to dig through all the greens and everything else just to get to them. Super inconvenient.
My friend ordered ramen—either shoyu or tonkotsu, can’t remember which—and he said the broth was really watery, not rich at all. It didn’t feel like they actually cook it there. The noodles also tasted pretty basic, not really like ramen noodles you’d expect at a proper spot.
So yeah, if you’re really craving ramen or a poke bowl, I personally wouldn’t recommend this place. Maybe their bubble tea is good—I can’t say—but for food, I wouldn’t go back.
The atmosphere was chill, lots of seating and places to plug in devices. Will absolutely be coming back!
The only feedback I have for the restaurant is that the protein bowl menu item says that sauce comes on the side, but it’s always mixed in with my bowl. I’d prefer to have it on the side so that nothing gets too soggy before I eat, but they’ve never put it on the side. Even when I write “PLEASE put sauces on the side! Thank you!” as a special request. I’ve even given this feedback in a 5-star review before, through GrubHub, but it didn’t help. It wouldn’t bother me so much if the menu item didn’t say sauce should come on the side by default and if it wasn’t safe to assume at this point that the special requests aren’t being read.
Today I ordered this same bowl, left the same note, and for the first time, my food came with no sauce in the bowl or on the side. That’s the only reason I’m writing a second review here and removed one star. I still love the food every time and will keep ordering, so I don’t want to punish anyone! I just really want this feedback to be heard!! At least take “sauce comes on the side” off the menu if it can’t even be done!
