We had such a wonderful experience at Nakama Sushi in San Francisco! The food was fresh and delicious, and the wooden, calm vibe made it even better. But the highlight of our evening was our waiter, who introduced himself as “Uncle Ben.” He was warm, funny, and made us feel completely at home. His energy added so much joy to the night—truly unforgettable service. Can’t wait to go back!

Amazing Sushi some of the best I’ve had. The services was very attentive I would recommend making a reservation we made a reservation at 5 right at opening and they got very busy very quickly with reservations. I would be recommend checking them out.

New Year dinner before the festivities and my first time here—so glad we chose this spot. We sat at the bar and had a great time interacting with the chefs, and I’ll definitely do the same every time I come back.
The sushi was outstanding—flavorful and beautifully prepared. We had sashimi that was incredibly fresh and mouthwateringly good. The rolls were fantastic, and the sake was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. Customer service was stellar from start to finish.
This gem is one of the best sushi spots I’ve been to, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the city. They also have another location in Oakland under a different name, which I can’t wait to check out. I’ll absolutely be coming back every opportunity I get.

My partner and I love this spot! The fish is always super fresh. The interior is really lovely and the staff are always really welcoming. We always get the 10 piece sashimi tasting to split (you can ask for it as 5 pairs) and it’s always delicious. The rolls are also great!

My husband and I came here Christmas Eve, 2025. The place was packed and the employees were working so hard – the chefs were just cranking out amazing dishes and the staff was nonstop moving. We sat at the sushi bar so we could watch the masters at work. The roasted rice green tea Genmaicha was delicious, as was everything we ate, and everything was so fresh. We ordered buttery walu and hamachi sushi, shared a generous seaweed salad, loved the miso soup and the baby Bella mushrooms, then on to the vegetarian gyoza that had such a good flavor. We also shared spicy Dynamite and Volcano rolls, the latter having the added texture of roe. Someone was celebrating a birthday, and our server came over and asked if we would be OK singing happy birthday- The lady next to me of course, as I did, then she commented that people who have a birthday on a holiday are ripped off. She said her birthday is in the spring so doesn’t conflict with a major celebrated holiday and said it was May 26, which is my birthday – an added bonus to meet one’s birthday twin so randomly. We will be back to Nakama Sushi the next time we’re in San Fran. We hope to take our kids here as well. Well done, Nakama Sushi!

Came here for an impromptu early dinner and it did not disappoint. The sushi rolls were great but loved the other dishes quite a lot too especially the fresh sea food. Tried the sparking jelly sake and it was quite refreshing.

Great experience with fresh delicious food and good service. We were in Hayes in dinner time and decided to give this place a try. We were seated right away without reservation, which is luck on a Sunday evening. We ordered Snow dragon, Spicy summer, Double red, and Nasu roll. I liked all of them but my favorite was Double red.
Our server, Uncle Ben, was extremely attentive, which added to the experience. Extra ginger, water refill and even complimentary sweet treat at the end – made that dinner memorable. The place was cozy with lights dimmed, and calm guests. I’ll definitely come there again.

Amazing! We had a great time, food was delicious and memorable. The service was impeccable and polite. The tempura was crispy and veggies soft and crunchy. The umami flavor from the unagi was great. And the karaage chicken was juicy and crunchy. The rolls were amazing. Thanks!
