Best fried chicken around!
Two things to note:
No credit cards. Please bring cash or check.
Call them on Friday for reservations and you will have a good time.

Friendly folks behind the counter and serving tables. All over this place felt like going over to grandma’s house out in the country for a long-needed family dinner.

Food-wise: we got the family chicken dinner.
Crispy, juicy chicken. Seasoned well, and always served piping hot!
Fluffy mashed potatoes, rich gravy, vinegary slaw with poppy seeds, green beans with country ham, sweet apple sauce, and great buttery biscuits. All made in house and madly delicious!

Somehow we saved room for dessert and had the most amazing peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream and the most decadent chocolate cream pie ever. All desserts made in house so we’ll be coming back to try them all!

Highly, highly recommend giving this place a call and reserving a table for the best fried chicken you can have in Missouri.

The service here is what makes this place a 5 star stop! Seriously, you could not find a kinder or more attentive restaurant staff! We even saw the owner going around and checking on each table. The menu is simple, but delicious! You have to make sure you have their incredible biscuits with honey and butter- I am still thinking about them 24 hours later! Please note, this restaurant only accepts cash or prepaid checks!

Hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in over a decade. Fried chicken was perfectly breaded and crispy, every side hit home, and the nostalgia it brought back to me was priceless.

Amazing prices and even got to meet the owner Mark, who was so incredibly hospitable. Go get on their list and I recommend getting their blackberry cobbler and vanilla ice cream!

If you are trapped in a world of pavement and devices, take a short drive off of hwy 63 and you will find yourself at Claysville Store. Adorned with wagon wheels and more than likely a line out the door, the aging building with its fading faux brick tin siding will probably leave some wondering whether the drive was worth it.

Number one, get reservations. Number two, come hungry. Number three…. you need to like chicken, or at least meat. If you are a vegetarian… you will need to eat sides or dessert. That being said, the chicken is pretty damn good. You get a choice of plate or family style. So if you want just 3 pieces of chicken, then get a plate. If you are really hungry, get the family style where you get all you can eat. They are served with green beans, biscuits, mashed potatoes, cinnamon applesauce, and cole slaw. You could also get it served with ham, or the special (ribs, etc) for a little more.

Oh, and number 4, bring cash or check. no cards.

Despite being busy, we were seated quickly. Served quickly and were out the door in an hour. We did not stay for dessert, but saw an impressive list of pies for only $3. All in all, a great visit, not far off the beaten path. Plates are 9-13 bucks, family style is 3-4 dollars more per person. So it’s definitely affordable!!

In a nutshell, it is EXACTLY what you read about online, oh and the chicken is pretty damn good.

I had to try this place out! My cousin and I were talking about going out to eat fried chicken here in Jefferson City. I suggested Nick’s be or Steve’s, he laughed and said, have you ever tried claysville store fried chicken and ham? I said no. Long story short,I took the family out to Claysville store and it was the greatest experience we have ever had! I fell in love with this food, all of it. From the fried chicken to the ham to the potatoes, green beans, cole slaw biscuits and their apple butter, oh my gosh it’s delicious! Their tea and lemonades were amazing. All in all this place is a 10 out of five. Don’t let the outside vintage look of the building deter you, come on in and you’ll be amazed!

A place you must experience if you’re biking the Katy Trail or if you’re in the mood for one of the best homestyle meals around. Will definitely be back here

Always a great place to get some good fried chicken. It’s served family style and is all you can eat. The owner has come out to greet the customers every time I’ve been there and is super nice. He does a lot of the cooking and is great at it. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal!

Celebrated my daughter’s 40th birthday party here. The
food was amazing. We had close to 30 people. It was served family-style. The food came out hot and fast. The customer service from the planning process to the day of the party was off the chart.

This was our first visit to Claysville Store Restaurant. Fantastic! Service was amazing! Cloie (not for sure of the spelling) was a fantastic waitress for our table of nine. She was polite, friendly and had a smile that would brighten anyone’s day! All the food was delicious, but the chicken was out of this world good. Thank you for a wonderful Birthday meal along with a beautiful memory with family! God bless you.

It’s a home cooking fried Chicken sort of place, served family style. And if that’s what you’re into that sort of food, you’ll be so pleased with the meal and prices! A potential downside if you have specific dietary restrictions, this would be a tough place to eat. When you order the family style meal, you are at the mercy of your server. We happened to encounter a server that we struggled to give us enough food, so that took away from the experience, as we kept having to ask and she sort of acted like we were asking for the moon. She was young and probably new, so I wouldn’t hold it against the place. The owners are lovely and appreciate your business. The desserts are worthwhile, even if you take it to go.

The location is along the Katy trail, about 10 min or less off of hwy 63. Great spot to hop on the trail before or after dinner. Indoor and outdoor dining available.
