The service is great too. Everyone is friendly, nice, and makes you feel welcome without being over the top. Overall, amazing ramen and good vibes all around. Definitely a place I’d keep coming back to
The service is good as well. The staff is nice and friendly, always willing to answer questions and help out, which makes the experience better. Great ramen, great service, and an easy place to recommend!
Love you Kurotaka, thank you for the memories and the food! I’ll be back soon.
I consider myself a regular here—I come in about every other week. The staff recognizes me and always makes ordering easy, which I really appreciate. The food is consistently great, and in my opinion, they serve the best ramen in town.
I especially like the single seating option when I stop by for lunch on my own—it’s comfortable and efficient. When I come back for dinner with my family, the experience is just as good. The atmosphere works well for groups, and my family enjoys the food every time.
Quality, consistency, and friendly service keep me coming back. Highly recommend for both solo meals and family dinners.
The ambience is cozy, with smooth to lively jazz. You are met with a friendly staff that are often helpful in explaining the complex dishes available. They clearly have a passion for their cuisine and it shows in their food.
The ramen is unsurpassed; whether you want the lighter “Kurotaka” or the richer Tonkotsu, there are no wrong answers. If you’re not feeling soup, there are fantastic chicken and beef rice dishes that are satisfying.
Bottom line is that Kurotaka is the real deal, no frills, no bs, just a great eating experience!
Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen ( 1st picture):
I loaded this up with extra meat, extra egg, and extra noodles—and it was worth every bite. The tonkotsu broth (pork bone) is legit, not some powdered mix. You can tell it’s been simmered for hours with actual bones. Rich, flavorful, and slightly fatty in the best way. If you’re into bold, creamy broths, this one will have you slurping all the way to the bottom of the bowl.
Note: If you prefer light or low-fat soups, this might feel too oily—but if you love real tonkotsu, you’re in for a treat.
On the side: crispy potstickers, nothing fancy, but they hit the spot with the ramen.
Japanese Curry with Chicken Karaage ( 2nd picture):
The curry is rich, slightly sweet, and deeply savory—exactly like what you’d get in Japan. The karaage (Japanese fried chicken) is juicy inside, crispy outside, and pairs perfectly with the curry and rice. Comfort food at its finest.
This place stands out not just in Fresno, but in all the ramen spots I’ve tried across the U.S. It’s that close to real Japanese local food.
