ADRIFT Kaya is born out of a decade-long love affair between Chef David Myers and the awe-inspiring city of Tokyo. Inspired by the traditional izakaya restaurants that are found throughout Japan, ADRIFT Kaya is a culinary experience that invites guests not just to dig into Chef Myers’ playful and flavor-forward cuisine, but to also embark on a special journey that will take them straight to the buzzing alleyways of Tokyo. The menu may be inspired by tradition but it is defined by Myers’ modern Californian food philosophy. You can expect seafood & meat that has been carefully selected for its quality & origin. For the perfect finishing touch, you can choose between an array of fine wines,Japanese craft beer &specially curated cocktail list.

This place has become my go to place every single time when I have some time to visit or meet someone at the airport or see someone off. Today was one such day when between getting off work/ a memorial event and an airport see off I had a couple of hours.
Since it is my birthday week it seemed ok to indulge.

If you are looking for fine dining and some Japanese food this is the place to be. I have also been trying to catch up with kids recent love for Japanese food hence have been exploring. Today was probably my third or fourth visit here and it was consistently delightful.

The staff is extremely courteous, and helpful in exposing the menu for novices like us. Their recommendations have always worked for me as well. Special mention – Mr. Sachin Verma

The tofu katsu curry I had with rice was amazingly delicious and to die for. I was hungry since had been fasting since morning and therefore the 580 kcal mentioned in the menu seemed ok to devour.

The ambience is amazing as well, the music is a tad bit loud for me personally/ but I was explained that the restaurant is on a Japanese theme of Izakaya – that stands for music, food and alcohol under one roof.

A definitely amazing place to keep coming back to or should I say getting drawn back to.

Adrift Kaya has solidified its reputation as New Delhi’s best Japanese restaurant, and it’s no surprise it holds a two-Michelin-star rating. The restaurant delivers an exquisite Japanese culinary journey, with every dish a testament to its commitment to excellence.

What truly sets Adrift Kaya apart is its ability to maintain the highest standards of Japanese cuisine, despite having a non-Japanese head chef. This speaks volumes about the chef’s dedication, skill, and understanding of authentic Japanese flavors and techniques. The food is simply delicious, offering a delightful exploration of traditional and contemporary Japanese dishes that are sure to impress even the most discerning palate.

While the prices are quite high, the experience at Adrift Kaya justifies the cost. It’s more than just a meal; it’s an opportunity to indulge in what is arguably the best Japanese food experience available in India. For anyone seeking an unparalleled culinary adventure, Adrift Kaya is an absolute must-try.

Back Again in Less Than a Week – Even Better the Second Time!

Returning to Adrift Kaya in less than a week says it all—this place is truly exceptional!

Adrift Kaya continues to impress, not just with its exceptional food, but also with the way the team personalizes each visit. Whether it’s your first time or a return trip, you’re guaranteed a memorable experience. Can’t wait for my next visit!

This time, Puru and Rajesh welcomed me warmly, gave me the choice of seating, and I opted for the outdoor area, which was perfect with the great weather. As a vegetarian, they thoughtfully reviewed what I had tried before and curated new recommendations for me.

New Favorites from This Visit
• Vinegar Tofu – Don’t let the name fool you! The tofu was incredibly soft, paired with a perfectly balanced sweet vinegar sauce. But the real star? The eggplant fritters—absolutely addictive! Possibly the best dish I’ve had here so far.
• Chioda Drink – A bold, spicy mix of ginger and guava juice—refreshing with just the right kick.
• Yakiudon Noodles – A comforting and flavorful addition to the meal.

A special mention to Chandra at the bar, who recommended the Chioda drink and ensured every detail of my experience was perfect. Her attention to detail and hospitality went above and beyond my expectations.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
A Must-Try Japanese Dining Experience at Adrift Kaya!

As a vegetarian, I had never tried Japanese cuisine before. Since Adrift Kaya is in India, I assumed they would have vegetarian-friendly options—and I was right! But instead of speculating about Indo-Japanese flavors (since I’m a complete newbie to this cuisine), let me jump straight into my experience!

Located within JW Marriott, Adrift Kaya is a concept by the renowned Gypsy Chef™ David Myers, a Michelin-starred chef. I also had the pleasure of meeting Chef Vladimir Villarba, who is truly a magician in the kitchen! Thanks to him, I got my first taste of Japanese flavors, and I’m so glad I did.

The Experience
• Warm Welcome & Personalized Service: Vani greeted me so well and helped me navigate the menu with ease. Her recommendations were spot on!
• Incredible Ambience: The interiors are beautifully designed, making the space feel both cozy and stylish. You’ll want to linger longer than planned!
• Energetic Yet Relaxing Vibes: Great music, a lively yet comfortable atmosphere, and a mix of families, couples, and solo diners—this place truly caters to everyone.

What I Ordered & Loved
• Rice Cracker with Avocado & Wasabi Dip – A super-thin, delicate cracker that paired perfectly with the dip.
• Vegetable Tempura with Daikon Dipping Sauce – The asparagus tempura was shockingly good! It transformed a simple veggie into something unbelievably tasty and beautiful. Must try!
• Hokkaido (Drink) – A refreshing drink with a hint of melon, well-balanced and not overpowering.
• Asparagus Maki Roll – Way better than any California roll I’ve ever tried. Another must-try!

Final Shoutout

A special thanks to Vani for making my first Japanese dining experience so memorable and custom-tailored. If you’re a vegetarian like me—or just someone looking for an amazing Japanese meal in India—Adrift Kaya is a must-visit!

Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!

Had a fantastic meal here on my last night in India. That staff were all so kind and welcoming, and the food was really good. I did the omakase (non veg) and it was thoughtfully put together and incredibly well presented. It was wonderful sitting at the sushi bar and getting to chat with the wonderful chefs. Special shout out to the wonderful work by Chefs Depak, Girija, Vansh, Prashan and Kartik! Thank you for a great meal – I’ll look forward to returning.

It was an honor to meet David on my flight and he invited us over to Adrift Kaya. It was an experience all of us will remember in our lives. The place is exquisite and atmosphere is great. Best and freshest sushi/sashimi tasted, air flown daily from Japan. Cocktails and sakes are top notch as well. It’s a place where I will definitely return and splurge. David, if you see this, thank you for the hospitality yesterday.

Enjoyed both the food and the cocktail (after some tweaking by Rishi)! Would commend the team especially Chef Deepak and Sumitra on making the dining experience enjoyable!

The braised pork is not to be missed along with prawn poppers. Both dish was cooked to the right level of taste and texture. Probably one of the best meals I’ve had in India for the last several trips.

We had a delightful evening at Adrift Kaya.

Every dish we ordered was delicious and met high standards.

While the prices are a bit on the higher side, they are justified by the quality, and the cocktails are excellent.

The service was outstanding, with special thanks to Vina, who made our evening even more memorable.
