We are doing a cross country drive this summer, visiting national parks, landmarks and little known treasured places. We were thrilled to have found this restaurant. It’s far from fancy, but in our humble opinion it rates as high as the Chart House restaurant, at the Tower of the Americas in TX.
We visited with Mr. Mike who shared of his family history in the area. We were excited to learn that his recipes are handed down from a few generations back. His kindness, friendliness, and warmth will not be forgotten. My daughter refers to Harmony as a “sweet friend” she made this summer, and hopes to visit again someday.
His BBQ is outstanding! We truly enjoyed the ribs, pulled pork, baked beans, potato salad and coleslaw. My teen said he wishes he could give the burger a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because 5 stars doesn’t do it justice.
It was truly an excellent experience for all 5 senses.

We absolutely the ribs! The baked beans and potato salad were amazing. The portions were very generous!…. I couldn’t eat all of the ribs! Mike, his wife, and grand-daughter were so nice and friendly. It has a very home like atmosphere! We can’t wait to go again!

The best by far! We was passing through googled and this place popped up. So we decided to try. And man we are glad we did. i had the pulled pork nachos ! The best pulled pork I have ever had. My husband had to the cheeseburger with potato salad and baked beans. We also had to buy a jar of the bbq sauce. This place is a hour from where we live and we will be making the drive to eat here again. From the staff to the food everything was perfect ! Great hole in the wall place ! Also I asked and the agreed to adopt us . Amazing people !

When we read the reviews, I knew we had to eat here, and I’m sure glad we did. The staff was friendly, cheerful and very helpful. The ribs were fall off the bone perfect. The pulled pork was so flavorful. The homemade BBQ sauce is this place’s best kept secret. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. And speaking of the menu, I love that it’s handwritten and any changes were simply crossed off. This is the kind of mom and pop place I will always support. Thank you so much from the great Pacific Northwest!

We ordered rib plates with beans and potato salad. Ribs were okay, greasy, very little flavor and burnt in some places. Not impressed. 2 stars for potato salad. Meal didn’t come with bread. We ordered drinks and didn’t get them. Atmosphere was small and tight. Toilet in bathroom unsteady. Don’t sit on it.

I don’t know if y’all have tried Mr Mike’s BBQ over here in Vicksburg but if you haven’t y’all are certainly missing out!!! When I tell you this pulled pork is amazing, the ribs are seasoned to perfection and this chicken is flavored just the way grilled smoked chicken is supposed to taste. This place was great! We were traveling through the area to meet up with our family and my Google skills found this highly rated BBQ place as our meeting location. He was very accommodating to our group of 9. ( and the prices were great) While this place is small the flavor is not. We all got our fill of delicious burgers, tbone, polar sausage and the RIBS! These ribs had great flavor even before I added some sauce to them!
He even told us the story behind his trophies and how these ribs won him that contest.
If you are looking for a non chain, delicious down to earth experience I would not pass this one up!

This was the best bbq ribs, sauce and sides I’ve ever had – and I’ve had lots. The owner / chef is a delight. I got to talking to him about the tornado that literally flattened a small town north of us and he told me that his smoker was full of meat that he is taking up to the town tomorrow. I’m leaving town tomorrow but if I weren’t I’d be back in there for lunch. This place is a must visit.

I had a religious experience after my first bite of Mike Gates’ ribs.
I would consider myself an amateur BBQ connoisseur. I’ve been to some of the top rated BBQ restaurants all across the south.
I love all kinds, sampling in every state across the south as well as Texas and Oklahoma (sorry Kansas City, haven’t made it up to you yet). Different regions are good, and some places that don’t have a strong history have a lot of options.
Mississippi is known for pork, and ribs. Big Bees did not disappoint.
These were the best ribs I’ve ever had, hands down. I didn’t need sauce but that made it better. Tender, flavorful, perfect balance of smoke, pepper, rub, without sacrificing the taste of the meat.
The BBQ baked beans, Mac n Cheese, were also great.
If you prioritize ambiance, table service, or other superficial qualities when picking restaurants, you will sleep on this place and miss out on some of the best FOOD you’ll ever have. This place looks like a bbq place and I wouldn’t change a thing. Chain BBQ restaurants are the embarrassment to the industry. Big Bees is exactly what I want a BBQ place to look like.
Mike is an amazing owner, cook, and host. Our group felt like we were sitting in his home kitchen with how warm and hospitable he made us feel.
Next time I pass by, will definitely stop back in. May even find any excuse I can to make a special trip back.
