We had a great meal here before Hamilton this weekend. No reservation and got right in. All of our food was fabulous, reasonably priced, and the staff were so attentive. We will be back!

HEY Kansas City! Let me tell you about a hidden gem in downtown Kansas City…You can find the Providence New American Kitchen inside of the Hilton President Hotel in downtown Kansas City. This kitchen is re-opening & has some SPECTACULAR items on their menu including: prosciutto pancetta, chicken wings, loaded nachos, perfectly cooked salmon, mouthwatering shrimp fettuccine Alfredo, & more. You can’t complete your meal without one of their desserts! We enjoyed the ice cream flight that included 3 tastes from Betty Rae’s. Did I mention the adorable & fancy adult beverages? When you are done with your meal, check out the Drum Room or even stay in one of the rooms. Providence New American Kitchen is a great spot to go on a date, for a business meeting, or even to grab & go. Do NOT miss out on this spot if you are staying in the hotel. Add this spot to your Kansas City bucket list today!
The service was great, the place was super clean, and the vibe was fantastic!

We stopped by here before seeing a show at The Music Hall. It was great because it was within walking distance and we could make a reservation. I have been to the Drum Room countless times and had no idea about the restaurant in the hotel! We decided to split the grilled peach salad, the fried goat cheese salad and a side of fries. These salads were so good! I feel like you don’t often hear people rave about salads after visiting a restaurant but these were both great. I would totally order them again. Our waitress was super nice and even let us know right when we sat down that they were short staffed and that she was also helping with room service. I always appreciate when staff is up front about situations like that because it helps customers understand and manage expectations. Our drinks were rather strong and we both had a hard time finishing them, but overall we had a good experience!

Had a delicious meal with friends during restaurant week. We collectively had wine, martinis, flank steak, salmon, chocolate cake, and pavlova. We loved all of our food and had a great time.

Our experience going to Providence for the first time was fantastic. Victoria was our server and she was superb. Very friendly, offered wonderful suggestions of food and drink. Service was fast and food was delicious. The fried Brussel sprout leaves was great and the brick chicken dish was fantastic, easily a dish I want to go back and eat again. The old fashions from Drum Room next door was the best old fashions we have ever had and the brown butter cake dessert did not disappoint. A place I would definitely go back to.

The slowest ever to get food, 60+ minutes for a salad and sandwich, which we never received and there were only 4 tables. We chose the restaurant because it was close to the KC Music Hall for a performance. We had to eat quickly to be able to make showtime.
Our server was apologetic and even asked if we were attending the show, to get us ahead in line. I would not recommend if you have an event to attend. So much for a dinner and musical.
Complete Failure!

This restaurant is kind of a shame. It’s in a wonderful old hotel that could and would support a fine (or even semi-fine…or even just ok) dining experience. The food is unremarkable. The room resembles a college cafeteria (albeit, a nice college) or Panera, but it could be so much nicer. They’re totally understaffed (as it has been every time I’ve been there over the past 3 years) with just one waitress (VICTORIA!) who was a real champ in cheerfully and exhaustingly servicing an entire room with no support staff at all (busboys, host/hostess, etc.). Hilton should either commit to staffing and making this a place that one would actually want to go (and return) to, or close it. They certainly should stop promoting it as a “pure, unmistakable KC experience” unless experiencing Kansas City means waiting in a lackluster room for a marginal meal with no wait staff in sight. Saying that, however, let me be clear. Our waitress Victoria was amazing in doing her best to serve an entire restaurant with no help whatsoever. Hilton should promote her. (Or any restaurateur who wants a top-notch server should hire her immediately).

We ordered the Brick Chicken, Clam Chowder and Side Salad. All three were excellent! The chicken had a fabulous sauce and crispy skin. Portions were good size.

My family and I visited before a concert because it was one of the only places in the area accepting reservations. I was unimpressed with the atmosphere – bright lights, seemingly drab decor, and a lot of tan colors. It felt like we were in a knockoff Longhorn Steakhouse. When we arrived, there were very few people in the restaurant, and our service was still slow. The food was good, but definitely overpriced for the portions. I would probably not return, but it would do in a pinch.

The valet was standing in the cold instead of sitting inside and he returned my car very quickly. The parking is free, however, if you in up in a lot which charges you went too far. The building is a very well preserved 1920’s Hilton hotel. The restaurant is old school elegance with incredible detail. This was the quietist place I have ever been which made it easy to talk. The distinguished waiter was always there when we needed him. He had a great personality which made my wife and I laugh. The Ribeye steak literally fell off the bone and melted in my mouth. It was the best steak I have ever enjoyed. My wife had the Salmon which she has all the time; she stated that it was incredible. My son had the fish and chips which were golden brown crust with no left over old oil on it, the white fish was unbelievable, I ate some and I will come back and order it. I recommend this restaurant to anybody that wants to enjoy the greatest food they ever will eat.
