I visited Firehouse Subs in Clive, and I must say- they beat out Subway and Jersey Mike’s on their “hot” subs. I think J.M has better cold cuts by a small marginal amount. But regardless this location makes their food well! And the hot Cheesesteak is creamy and delicious even the vegetables are grilled to perfection! This location is also clean and well kept, the staff were friendly!

I visited the Des Moines location for the first time and Craig was my host! There was another gentleman helping him whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch, but they were both AMAZING. As a first-time guest at Firehouse, I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They were incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and welcoming from the start.
I ordered the French Dip and it was absolutely delicious! But honestly, even beyond how great the food was, the service completely stood out. They were so personable and kind, they made such a positive impact on my first visit. I’ll definitely be back!

Craig and a younger man helped me today at this location and they very cheerfully greeted me right when i walked in! They made my meal with care (delicious btw)! And gave me a friendly vibe. Great attitudes. Definitely keep these men around! I will be back and recommend to my friends 🙂

Fell in love with this place. These subs taste better than any subway sandwich ever created. Came here one day for lunch and ordered the spicy Cajun chicken sub. Came back the next day for the engineer and the prime rib. Even got a chicken and dumpling soup bowl for the wife. All of it was delicious and won’t break the bank. Customer service was on point. The guy behind the register was even nice enough to make some recommendations that clearly did not disappoint. You won’t be disappointed either.

As someone who worked in a ($3.8M firehouse) for two years and has a boyfriend who worked in one for 10 years, do not come here. It used to be the best location in Des Moines, but now it’s awful. The last three orders have either been absolutely freezing cold from not touching the steamers, missing less than half the meat, or made an hour and half in advance from when it should be. Tonight I ordered two sandwiches to be made at 8:30pm and they made it at 7, “5 minutes after the ticket printed”, so by time we got there they were freezing. After going in, it took THREE try’s to get the sandwiches right even after going in and explaining how we wanted them. This is completely asinine and unacceptable. We hope things get better but for now I’d steer clear.

We stopped after driving for 14 hours & were confused of where we were going. We walked into the wrong restaurant & tried ordering a pizza from Firehouse Subs! Tony was working that night. He was so kind & didn’t make us feel embarrassed even though I was. As we were leaving he came out with a brownie for each of us! He had no idea that I was traveling on a big birthday. He made my day with that brownie & his kindness.

I wanted to give a shout out to the 1 employee at the Clive Iowa firehouse sub today. Aug 16. He was so nice when my family and I went in. He apologized and said he was the only one who showed up to work and that it would be at least 30min or more to make out food. We told him it was okay and thanked him,as I was hangry, and I had my husband and child with me. I felt very bad and hope he gets some recognition outside of a “good job” for holding down the fort. In the time we are in, it is hard to have good workers or any at all. That employee is a keeper and I hope you treat and reward the well.
