One of my favorite types of breakfast places are locally owned ones. This little gem of a restaurant is one of my favorite places to go when I meet up with my friends to go on motorcycle rides. Norma D’s has excellent food and their prices are very good. You get generous portions and your coffee cup is rarely ever empty. I have been here about five times and I have yet to have a bad experience. I will definitely be back a 6th 7th 8th 9th and 10th time. Highly recommended.

This wonderful little place always amazes!

Friendly crew and great food! I’ve only had their breakfast so far and I’m one who likes fish for breakfast, and their fish does not disappoint! Perfect, moist, and flaky, and the eggs and potatoes were cooked to perfection and they have great sweet tea! Their pancakes are a delight as well.

The atmosphere was pleasant and they had 70’s music playing when I was in there, and they have free refills on tea and soft drinks.

In the past they only accepted cash but now cards are accepted which is a big huge plus, and overall this little place is a true gem here in Hastings and is better than the other big city breakfast/brunch places I’ve been to, and yet has that small town friendliness and charm about it which earns it an easy five stars! 🙂

We went to Norma D last Wednesday on 3/4/26 at 11:30 AM. Let me describe our experience. We are three guys. Our waitress was a young girl who had no clue what she was doing.

My friend had the battered shrimps with fries. He could only eat two shrimps because the batter was so hard he couldn’t bite them. They were almost so hard like walnuts. The other friend ordered a chicken salad and said: „No tomatoes! I’m all allergic“. When the salad arrived, he started eating and after three minutes, he said he feels unwell. He checked his salad and at the bottom were a lot of tomatoes. He had to use his EpiPen ($220) to avoid an allergic shock.

I’m a vegetarian and ordered a Greek salad without ham. When she brought the Greek salad, there was a large amount of ham on top. The rest was just iceberg lettuce, 7 soggy olives and two slices of onions. That’s not a Greek salad. No feta, no tomatoes, no cucumbers. I ask her twice for a refill of my soda. Never got one.

But my other friend had to pay for a soda on his bill, which he never ordered or received.

Conclusion, the food is terrible and the service sucks. Stay away.

A local hangout right on the main street of Hastings. Lots of small town atmosphere, with home cooking comfort food. A regular stop for me when I’m in that area working with friends. The fish and grits, is my go to meal. Lots of other choices on the chalkboard to choose from. Classic Rock and Roll playing on the radio. It doesn’t get any better than that.

We were going to get the blackened shrimp with balsamic but went with the special of fried chicken with 2 sides. We did mac-n-cheese and cucumber salad. Chicken was plentiful but a bit dry. Sides were good. Nice place! We went a couple blocks next door to grab some coffee on the way out of town.

Tea is super sweet! Great menu options: yes, lots of fried foods, but several salad choices, too. I had summer salad with blackened shrimp and balsamic dressing. Very good. Hubby’s fish was good, too. Place was crazy busy, so the wait for food wasn’t normal. Will definitely go back!

Delicious food and great service. We sat at the counter on a busy Saturday and soon had coffee and menus. The servers and manager kept our coffees full. We liked the cheerful atmosphere and found the restaurant to be clean and comfortable. Our food was delicious and arrived in a timely manner. Definitely recommend this gem in Hastings.
