Houso Bread is a wonderful bakery with so many great options. They have a wide variety of fresh breads, pastries, and sandwiches. Everything always tastes fresh and homemade. The sourdough bread is very good, full of flavor, and baked just right. Their brownies are rich and delicious, and the pastries are hard to resist.

I tried the chocolate zucchini bread, and at first it sounded like a strange mix, but it was amazing. The bread was very moist, rich, and full of flavor. Everyone loved it.

The service is friendly and fast, and the bakery has a warm and welcoming feeling. One thing that really makes this place special is their custom bread service. You can tell they care about what they make and about their customers. Houso Bread is a great place to visit, and I would happily recommend it to anyone looking for high-quality bread and baked goods.

Update…10/2/2025.
Will not purchase another loaf…ever.
The bread is not uniform. It is a way for owner to save money. Rip off! I was told the bakers would be told to make loaves that we’re same size end to end. Its Not happening. Boo! Hiss! I wish House Of Bread bakers were still around.
This place is not even up to par with the old owners. The loaf breads are now poorly made. Used to get a uniform sized loaf. Same height end to end. Now the loaf is formed sloping on both ends. The ends are half the size of the middle. Cheapskate move. They seem to have gotten rid of the wonderful, customer service oriented employees too.
What a bad move. Hope this place survives. We need small businesses to thrive.

I am very disappointment in the downfall of this establishment. It is now owned by foreigners. The food is not the same. The shelves are empty. I ordered the egg tomato sandwich on sourdough bread. This is not sour over it. It is filled with nasty cheap mayonnaise. It is absolutely horrible. The employees are changed. The old employees were friendly and bubbly. There was a happy and friendly atmosphere. That is now gone. I will not be going back. I do not recommend this place. It is not the same place. The old reviews are just that, they are old from the old owners. Even the history of politicians who visited this establishment and wrote about it is gone. The walls were there. I’m actually throwing the sandwich away. I am sitting in my car in discussed. It has no flavor. The place does not seem as clean as it has been in the past period. Overall experience went from 10 to one.

Bread, both gluten free and good old fashioned bread. Sour dough, rye, grainy you name it. special treats per season king cakes, hot cross buns. Bunny cinnamon rolls etc. And coffees! I stopped in for lunch and had a delicious turkey/ lasagna soup and 1/2 chicken cranberry salad sandwiches on sourdough! So yummy!

I recently tried Houso Bread’s chocolate zucchini bread, and honestly — who would ever think to mix chocolate and zucchini? But wow… it was damn amazing. Everyone who tasted it ended up loving it. The flavor was rich, moist, and surprisingly perfect.

What really sets this place apart is their custom bread service. If you see a bread you want — even something uncommon — just show them, and they’ll make it. I spotted a type of Jewish bread, asked if they could bake it, and they actually made it fresh for me. How amazing is that? It’s like having your own personal professional baker who brings your ideas to life.

Houso Bread isn’t just a bakery — it’s a place that makes you feel taken care of. Highly recommend giving them a try!

We have visited them 3 separate times since the ownership change and have been disappointed for various reasons. (1) we bought a loaf of grandmas white bread and it was strangely stiff and dense compared to how fluffy they used to be. (2) we got a cinnamon roll, which was fine, and a chocolate chip cookie which was so burnt it shouldn’t have been sold. (3) Our most recent visit we purchased a loaf of grandmas white, a loaf of honey whole wheat, and a chocolate zucchini bread. The whole wheat we were able to take home unbagged because it was fresh out of the oven while the other two were already in their plastic bags. Well, the white bread and chocolate zucchini tasted like chemicals and the whole wheat didn’t. And if you cut the crusts off those two the flavor improved. So I’m wondering if they are bagging the loaves too early now. I know baking is super hard and I couldn’t do it any better but it’s sad that the quality went down so drastically since the ownership change.

A Local Gem Worth Visiting!

I recently tried three delicious items from this local Texian Bakery: the Nutty Roll, Moringa Scone, and Chocolate Zucchini. All three were incredibly tasty and showcased the bakery’s quality and creativity.

What impressed me beyond the food was the friendly staff who made the experience even better with their warm service. The bakery maintains excellent cleanliness standards, which is always reassuring when choosing where to eat.

I’m proud to support this local business and highly recommend stopping by to try their unique offerings. Whether you’re in the mood for something nutty, healthy, or chocolatey, they’ve got you covered!

What a great shop. A friend and I stopped in lunch he got the Philly on sour dough and I got the Italian Grinder. Both sandwiches were amazing. I also bought a sourdough starter. They have jars of ingredients to make cookies, even gluten free cookies. They also have gluten free breads already made for purchase. Staff was super friendly when I had questions about the sourdough starter.
