My Thai friend says the food is 10/10 for authenticity and flavor. She insisted on eating here twice during our 4 days in Hanoi – dinner and lunch before we left for Saigon. We also tried another Thai spot in the Old Quarter but the service wasn’t friendly and the taste was 6.5/10 for that one so we came back to Khao Hom. I really liked the beef salad and the pork larb. The beef was grilled to a perfect medium rare. She loved the glass noodle seafood salad and som tum so much she ordered it both times. The chef is Thai which may explain how it’s so good. The servers were also super friendly and professional.

Absolutely the best Thai food I’ve ever had in Vietnam, let alone Hanoi.
A beautiful and cosy restaurant with excellent, well trained staff who are are attentive but also give you space.
We tried three dishes: the incredibly rich and depthy Tom Yam Goong, the Phad Kra Pow Gai and the Phad Prik Talay.
The dishes were incredibly fresh, prepared quickly and on our table within 10 minutes of ordering. All the essential Thai flavours were there and perfectly balanced: galangal, lemongrass, peppercorns, chilli and garlic.
Will definitely come back now I know I can eat the food I miss from Thailand trips.
Thank you very much!

I was quite disappointed with the experience here. As a vegetarian the options are limited in my opinion, mostly side dishes but priced as a main. They had no veggie or vegan versions of the curries. They really need to change this. The food did not have those Thai flavours and was pretty much just glorified Vietnamese food with Thai names and high prices. I love Vietnamese food in general but I came here wanting Thai food. The flavours are different and so are spice levels. It just lacked that actual authentic Thai touch. The cost is very expensive also considering all of the above. The restaurant was empty which should have been an indication really, but I assumed it was because it was late and poor weather. The service was let’s say.. too much.. a little overbearing and uncomfortable . I think the waitress was young and perhaps eager to do well but she kept repeating the same thing over and over again even though I understood and made that clear and she did so with a strange almost creepy false smile on her face which made me feel awkward and uncomfortable she kept coming up to me quite frequently just to repeat what she has said previously and I really didn’t understand why. It was just abit of an odd experience that I’ve not had before it’s hard to put into words really. Perhaps this was just the vegetarian choices and the meat and fish ones are better, I can’t vouch for that. But yeah, without more vegan and vegetarian dishes added to the menu with ideally the use of actual Thai spices for a more authentic taste, I will not be returning to or recommending this place.

Nice location, the restaurant looks minimal and clean. Staffs are friendly and helpful.
We asked for recommendations and he didn’t disappoint.
The Larb Moo was interesting, a bit spicy, fun texture.
Pad thai was amazing. The noodles were perfectly cooked, not soggy. Prawns were huge and tasted fresh.
Tom Yum was flavourful, fresh and tasty.
We also ordered a Green chicken curry, which was good and chicken were so tender.

We are Thai food lover, this place is our favorite Thai restaurant in town. Meals taste authentic. Very nice staffs, quick service. Must try Pad Thai, Tom Tum soup (lots of shrimps) and curry. Car can be parked anywhere nearby. Need to book as it’s usually full.

Delicious food, comfortable and cozy vibe, nice and helpful staff. I like green curry, tom yam fried rice…and the morning glory stir fry with mushroom sauce is good too. Food has a homemade authentic feel full of flavors. Will always return for a good Thai meal.

Fresh and new real Thai restaurant open 7th Nov.
Ambiance is comfortable and casual. Team is caring and supportive, really good customer service.
The appetiser was awesome and fresh and flavor rich, really what you expect as REAL Thai.
The main course items were about less impressive, suspect it’s first day blues. The rice was very nice too.
Thai drinks run sweet and as a result so do the restaurants, if you like it so you will love it.
Definitely will be back to try again.

All dishes we ordered today were good. Tom yum goong is quite big portion which may be shared for two, others were ok for one person (a bit less compared to the price). The shop is not so spacious inside so I recommend to reserve a table in advance. I will be back!

Staff are extremely nice and quick to respond. Food is x1.5 – x2 more expensive than regular Thai restaurants ( 18 bucks for 2 people 2 dishes 1 coke ) plus tax and side dish combined. Portion is also smaller though.
Green curry is relatively tasty, fresh chicken, but some veggie cubes are almost ‘braised ‘ and some others are crunchy, hope the curry broth is not recooked over and over again?
My dish curry No 23 is saltier than my preference. Note that rice is excluded for curry dishes!
Busy place, should make reservations if coming in groups.
