Wanted to spend one last lunch date with my daughter before starting a new job.Saw a tik tok on this place and we decided to try it out. First week of March. 1st 82 degree day of the year. They had literally a week before this heat hit to prepare. We sat down and blinds were pulled all the way down.We got there when it was first opened so around d 11:15. We are eating and a waitress comes over and starts fiddling with the blinds. We are thinking she is trying to let in some sunlight, so my daughter helps her…..oh no….there is a 15000 BTU AC behind those blinds that had a one (1) inch layer of black dust and mildew on it. This stupid waitress turns that sucker on!!!!!….My daughter is a paramedic said ” let’s just go”….This is a extreme extreme health hazard.If the air conditioner looks THAT bad…..imagine what the kitchen looks like.This was not just from 1 winter of sitting unused this was from several….Pure mildew under the vents..Now you know that waitress should have asked somebody.I truly hope no patrons of this establishment get sick. THE HEALTH DEPT NEEDS TO PAY A VISIT!!!! WE LEFT….still hungry. Only had one peice of chicken. Money wasted will never go back and I will make sure I let that tik toker know!!!

A verily new restaurant in Lumberton, Carter’s could be the best soul food spot in a three county area. The restaurant is a former golf course clubhouse, so it’s spacious. Buffet style, the food choices aren’t abundant but the food is excellent and it is continuously replenished.
Staff very friendly and the drink waiter floated around the room enough to keep glasses refilled.
However, it’s only open — at the time of this review — for three hours during lunch. Well worth it.

Great job catering the Hester-Barnes 1st Family Thanksgiving! The food was absolutely amazing. EVERYTHING (baked & fried chicken, salmon, fish, Mac & cheese, etc) was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The blueberry cobbler was delicious as well! We will ALWAYS order the blueberry Cobbler in the future. Thank you again for making our gathering successful.

Don’t order to go if you’re in a rush. I arrived when I was asked to. The employee that was helping me stopped, to help another employee with a larger order. I waited an additional 10 minutes, then left without anyone even trying to help me. If you’re supposed to be helping me, help me. Don’t help someone else because their order is larger.

Discovered Carter’s from a Google search and was pleased with our visit. Buffet style, eat-in or to go. The food was delicious, especially the fried chicken! Friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit!

Today 3-3-24 was my 1st time eating here and boy have I been missing out on some good cooking. The buffet was so fresh and delicious. The entire staff was very friendly and polite. I will definitely be back.
